It is always great to keep an open mind. However we must discern between what is right and wrong. It is one of our most important responsibilities. We must in mind our own accountability.

While I agree with what you said, I think we often miss an important aspect of truth and knowledge. Many things in life are defined just as much by what they are NOT as by what they are. For example, "up" has no meaning without "down." You can't describe "soft" or "cold" without comparing them to "hard" or "hot." To understand "right" we also have to study "wrong." I think too often we just want to classify something as "good" and then ignore the "bad."

Nothing is ever 100% right or wrong. Within everything, there is at least a little speck of the opposite. The only way we're going to find that - and increase our wisdom and understand - is by have an open mind, as Rashard does a nice job of pointing out.

Having an open mind does not mean accepting every piece of information that comes along. Having an open mind means thoughtfully analyzing every piece of information (not ignoring any) and considering how each fits within and helps clarify Truth.
