Sad news. Loved his bravery in taking on the role of a gay man in Victor, Victoria long before doing so was easily accepted.

RIP!

So to take on a Gay role takes more bravery than playing pro ball? Maybe? He was great in that role! May his memory be eternal.....

I met him once, sort of. It was 1976, I was 21 and driving a cab in New York City. Karras, a friend and their two dates got into my cab and I took them to an Italian restaurant. They were laughing a lot and having a great time.

RIP, Alex. Condolences to the family.

R.I.P. Alex Karras.

A great football player. A fun actor. A good man.

You're already missed.

I remember his well done role as George Zaharias in the movie Babe about Babe Didrikson Zaharias.

Thanks for the memories. RIP

Just listening to him speak was entertaining, and he was a great football player. And he's done his job toward focusing on the "beatings" football players have had to endure. Before the concussion/brain issue got prominent note of in the media...I had heard of what these physical "beatings" had done to the players. Some couldn't walk, some couldn't get out of bed, some had to live with lifelong physical pain. Now it's the "beating" their brains are receiving. Now all of it is an issue. I haven't heard Karras speak in years and years, but I still smile remembering him do so.

RIP, you big teddy bear. He was hilarious in Victor/Victoria.

He was a great player who was suspended by Rozelle for gambling on his own team. He is also the best actor of any former athlete. RIP Alex.

Very entertaining guy. A terrific guest on talk shows with all his stories from his playing days.

I hope these players win their suit against the NFL. The current NFL charade of concern for player safety re: head trauma would never have happened had these old-timers not brought it to the public's attention.

Man, this makes me sad.
Karras was so vibrant, funny and had a huge, loving heart.

Don Henley said it best . . . "There's a hole in the world tonight" .

My deepest condolences to Karras' family, friends and supporters.
