Has Apple Really Ever Invented Anything - YouTube
08:47 PM on 10/14/2012
I was called onto the carpet over the weekend, because I dared to criticize Apple over Walmart. I am so tired of hearing about how wonderful Apple is and all their products that one must pay for based on their extremely high price for a smartphone over others that are less expensive for what is basically the same thing. Let alone why one needs a smart phone or an iPod or an iPad to begin with. Can anyone explain this to me. I am sincerely interested. I will admit that I have an HP laptop, two over ten year old televisions, and an color Nook that I hardly evr use.

Sad life you have, but everyone does not get the gift of faith.

Sorry, but I don't understand either comment about my sad life, or gift of faith. Please expound on your comments, thank you.

To make it simple, Apple iPad, iPod touch (iTouch),iPhone and very soon, the iPad mini are very similar smart devices. They allow you to surf the internet via web browsers just like any desktop computer using wifi or cellular data network called 3G or 4G when wifi signal is out of range, check and read your e-mails, read e-books using apps calledy iBooks or Kindle just like your Nook, listen to music and watch movies. You can even share apps (application software) you purchased from the App store with these devices. The only differences are the iPhone has a cellular service feature for data and voice so you can surf the internet and make phone calls even if you don't have wifi access. Some iPads also have a cellular service feature for data ONLY where you pay a phone carrier a monthly fee so you can access the internet even in areas that don't have wifi signals. If you have one of these smart devices, it's not necessary to buy the others because of redundancy. I believe the iPad mini is the same as the new iPad except it's smaller and cheaper. It will probably render the iPod touch obsolete. Apple also has the classic iPod and iPod nano devices where you can sync your itunes music, movies and TV shows from your computer so you can enjoy them "on the go" but there is no access to the apps, internet, ebooks and e-mails. Hope this helps.

No, I'm sorry but that didn't really help me. I have a cell phone, just a very basic LG flip phone, and whatever else I need, my computer ans cell phone handles quite well

Wow so you are the king of all reporting? So you want to tell everyone how to live and use electronics? Go back to the stone age and let people choose what they want.

Um, uh, Jason--what was with that snide remark about President Obama's birth certificate (as well as the "so-called President" at that)? Really, you're a birther? It seems a bit out of place in a Tech column about Apple rumors. I think you've just shot your credibility in the foot.

Why would it shock you that an Apple fanboy is a birther? Apple fanboys are some of the dumbest people on the planet.

Princess--you have a valid point there indeed. I'm not a fanboy (I use both Windows and Apple machines equally so I do use both halves of my brain). Still, it seemed very wrong to promote a birther agenda in talking about something totally unrelated. Sigh...

Does the iPad Mini have a USB port???? OR is APPLE ALSO trying to force us on to their CLOUD so to charge us to see and use our own files? I DONT trust the cloud concept.... Clearly its nothing more than a scam to rip off consumers...Once your Hooked your Hooked for life ....

Well, that's paranoid; but anyway, there will be no iPad mini, at least not in the near future. You apparently have no Apple products and you have never used iCloud, because you don't need to use iCloud you can use your own Hard drive just the same, the difference is the assurance your data is safe as far as not being lost to fire theft or electric issues in your home. As far the "rip-off" idea goes that might depend on how you choose to look at it. iCloud is a product like all other products it's designed to make money, which it apparently does.

Once Crapple reads all of your information that you put on the iCloud, they will steal your ideas and make them theirs. Apple just stole a clock.

You would be Wise to be equally Paranoid Not that I call taking care of my own memory requirements being Paranoid.... I promise you YOUR info is not just YOUR info if its under some elses control.... I own Terabytes of Memmory and they are ALL controlled by ME not Mr Cloud. and by the Way I own nothing BUT apple computers 5 to be exact.
but will Never own an ipad or mini iPad if apple requires that I use the cloud to access software or store Data.

"Does the iPad Mini have a USB port????"

Is that a rhetorical question? Of course NOT!! Now wait for the fanboys to claim that Apple invented the 7" tablet, after they denigrated the idea for years.
