Hope they keep the rubber bands tightly wound......need to keep those props turning. Even the Russians were smart enough to walk away from that relic.

Chinese aircraft carrier bought from Russia made with quality Chinese steel and poly-resin. Dubbed the unsinkable 12, (the other 11 are on the bottom of the ocean).

That piece of russian junk could be sank with one anti ship missile, just like any of our ships can. Im not worried about the chinese junk floating around.

Not too long from now the USA will no longer be the leader or the strongest. First just by the numbers China, Russia and India are much bigger and have many more potential servicemen and women. They all have access to technology and have enough American taught scientist to build whatever we have in the USA. Time for the USA to wake up and start to look for more allies and become surrounded by friends.
11:50 AM on 10/15/2012
They just made India our largest allie last year. And if the dems get in and cut the defense budget like they say they are then we are screwed to the wall. Our defense is depleted after 2 wars what are the dems thinking, letting NATO take care of us haha what a joke.

We spend more on our military than any other country. We do NOT need that. We have many domestic problems that that money can go towards. I am not saying cut out the military entirely, but we could cut the budget 50% and STILL spend more than any other country. The best part is that by cutting it 20-30% we don't even need to cut service men or training. we close bases that are USELESS and stop paying contractors that DON'T fulfill their contracts. We have numerous contracts go unfullfilled but we still pay them... CUT THAT...

Well, now we can thank greedy Americans for helping China again. I wouldn't be surprised if one their warships can be named after an American corporation.
11:23 AM on 10/15/2012
Without China, US is crashed and burned long time ago without much manufacturing and just print money for world's resource.

Get real.
01:02 PM on 10/15/2012
that is actually not true. China worked because their poverty line was so low that a corporation could move there and pay people nothing (nearly) which is a lot cheaper than American Workers... To think that if China was not like that, then America would be hurt is wrong...Move to Africa, or one of the former USSR provinces... Their poverty line is terrible... The bottom line is money, not countries.

Yes, the Chinese military gaining a 20+ year old hull upon which to build an obsolete carrier with a ramp of all things to help its planes get in the air is a direct threat to our Navy, which is larger than the next 11 navies in the world, combined.

The answer is obvious, we need to go from spending 41% of all the world's military expenditures to over 50%...

Have a great day!

Subvert the dominant paradigm
11:00 AM on 10/15/2012
It will take them a generation at least to develop the command and control systems, logistics systems, training and communications protocols, naval aviators, efficient flight-deck operations and effective naval doctrine to be where the US Navy was 30 years ago.
Frankly, their money is better spent elsewhere and this rudimentary training carrier will NOT help the Chinese.
Seamanship cannot be reverse-engineered, copied or miniaturized.
10:56 AM on 10/15/2012
The US spends an obscene amount of money on our defense budget, many times over what the rest of the combined military spending of all other nations on this planet.

Is China a threat? hardly... Not until they spend more than we do.

A good military has to do with tactics and weaponry! Spending money does not make a better military unless one has a robot army and laser guided weapons othrewise spending money just to spend only enrichens the politicians and their corporate oligarchy!
11:53 AM on 10/15/2012
Let them attack the mainland US we have enough guns under our beds to take care of them.
