Thats an expensive method of waste treatment. I though they just pumped out human waste from the ISS into space.

No, they recycle urine by processing it back into drinking water. Solid waste is dehydrated by exposure to vacuum and the dry waste disposed via expendable cargo spacecraft.

Dragon is carrying urine and blood samples for scientific research, especially with regard to bone loss and osteoporosis. It's the only spacecraft that can return significant amounts of valuable payload from the ISS, and they can use other vehicles for disposal.

Dragon is on the recovery boat and headed back to port.

SpaceX tweets a joke that if Dragon keeps landing this precisely, they're going to have to start issuing the recovery team titanium umbrellas! I guess it almost landed right on top of the recovery boat.

just another instrument poking needless holes in our atmosphere and then blame global warming for the holes. Makes perfect sense to me. LOL

May make sense to you, but its agreement to science...

Not so much
06:57 PM on 10/28/2012
That made no sense. At all. That would be global FREEZING if it put holes in our atmosphere. The reason there is "global warming" is because emissions from vehicles and industries going up and becoming part of our atmosphere which blocks in heat waves once they enter in. This causes the earth to heat up because the heat can't escape because our atmosphere is too dense. However, its not even "global warming" anymore anyway. It's called climate change. Which we can prove. With science. That you obviously have not researched enough to know even the most basic components of. Please do not insult ideas that you know absolutely nothing about aside from what Fox News reports.

AMEN! Hurricane Sandy is being called the biggest storm ever and it hasn't even hit the cold front. Who knows what's going to happen when the warm tropical air of Sandy hits the cold front? Tornadoes? Yes, this is what climate change looks like.

Please stop using interns to write headlines that even the National Enquirer would reject! This is getting old. A straight line "Bio samples returned from ISS" would suffice.

It is good to see a private company step up to the plate and did something like this. Human passengers soon I hope instead of having to hitch a ride to the ISS from Russia.

Question about the 'grabber' headlines for the article?
What are you, 6?
Gross and disgusting? Really?
Grow up!
I could explain the reasons for the blood and urine samples to an intelligent 6 year old, that would call it fascinating, not 'disgusting and gross!'

Always some clown that has to get political. Sort of like they have to have an opinion on how to milk a cow.
