"He also told the paper that he does not believe his attacker should go to jail, but instead should have to perform community service working with the disabled."

I applaud this guy. Even after an experience like this he wants to view the world in a positive way. Bravo.

"This is not something a Marine does -- they have more self control." Yeah, like waiting for orders to kill instead of doing it on their own? Or water boarding 8 times instead of the 10 he wanted to and his restraint should be admired? Oh please! A Marine is just like anyone else who chooses to be violent.

This guy shouldn't get away with it. Today he attacks someone in a wheel chair(doesn't matter whether he's a vet or not to me)tomorrow he'll attack someone else using an excuse.

There are a lot of people that pretend to be in the military or have exaggerated their military service. Most people in the military will question people like that, not just randomly attack someone.

My 17 y/o son is going into the Marines when he graduates - he wears Marine camo pants & and a grey USMC t-shirt when he works out or runs. He's been stopped by Marine vets who 1.) Congratulate him & give him advice & praise him for his dedication & drive and 2.) Marines who yell at him because he "hasn't earned the right" to wear that shirt. He's still a child - why yell at him over a t-shirt? He's not in uniform, wearing medals or patches, pretending to be a Marine. People are just crazy.

The Marine was too drunk to dare ask if the guy might have served at one point but instead wanted to be the center of attention by starting drama when it wasn't needed. This man was a Marine (still is because once a Marine always a Marine) that was attacked by another who should have been able to look at his outfit/awards to see that it would match up but instead I guess he wanted to take the attention off of him and his tutu and wanted to stir up trouble. He is lucky this man is being so nice about what should be done as in punishment considering what he went through. Even if he was a fake Marine that doesn't give you the right to put your hands on someone. I felt bad when the victim said he wears his uniform every year to have this happen to him.

This is the bottom line.

I've seen more unhinged, short-fused Marines than any service members of other branches... just saying.

I'd be interested in hearing your explanation of why it is that the Marines who serve our country honorably receive your scorn but not the people who send them off to fight?

Perhaps this is just "jumping on the bandwagon criticism"?

Ms Baldi, 3 tours in Iraq and 2 in Afghanistan over the last 10 or so years [about average for today's Marine] could unhinge anyone and give them a short fuse.

I'm sure you've heard the old saying about walking a mile in someone else's shoes?

Nothing worse than stupid, violent self-righteousness. This is what happens when the military becomes a sacred cow.

Poor conduct on the side of the Marine. I agree with the victim, don't send him to jail, make him serve community service with the handicapped, and/or, make use a wheel chair himself for a period of time and see what life is like on the other side of the coin. The only thing funny about this story, is the Marine was wearing a pink two two.

"In October, a 9-year-old girl dressed as a skunk for a Halloween party was allegedly shot by a relative who mistook her for an actual skunk."

This relative must have thought she was a giant mutant skunk right?!

What is this world comming to!?!?

I don't think she was dressed as a skunk. I remember reading she had a costume that included a black hat with a white feathery thing. She was lying on the groung during a game of hide and seek when he saw her, and apparently only saw the hat which resembled a skunk.

should be stripped of being allowed to be called a Marine," Priotti told the Sun. "This is not something a Marine does -- they have more self control."

Exactly…Just because one serves in the military and wears a uniform that doesn’t mean they are a good person. For some reason we overlook this fact.
