With all of these glaring problems, this is what the Affordable Health Care law was based on, our so our President said in the debates. Now I am concerned.
01:20 PM on 11/06/2012
These problems were not created by the Mass. health care laws, they just weren't suddenly fixed the moment the laws was signed. Some of the people in the article are citing experiences from well before Romney was governor.

Mental health has been a woefully under funded and over worked sector in every state. Even people who have pretty decent health insurance have a tough time finidng doctors, and getting enough, or soemtimes any, treatments. My insurance will cover 6 mental health "visits" in a calendar year. If you have been admitted to a hospital for attempted suicide during that year, you get an extra visit covered. Woo-Whoo. I am sure that really makes a difference to someone who is so distressed they actually follow through and seriously hurt themselves..

I love you comment and I mean that seriously.  It is exactly the kind of issues that have been raised about both private insurance and medical, medicare.  Once Govt steps in an fixes a price, doctors leave and fewer enter the field, so waits are terrible and there is a lack of real good doctors out there.  However, on the bright side, there are a lot of private, low cost or no charge places that are out there for people with issues that can be handled without a doctor.  There are also tons of therapists willing to work on a sliding scale or no charge.  So we look to private and people wanting to do the right things when govt and insurance fail.

When Clinton started his healthcare plan he sent people over to Holland to see how it's done. He didn't stand a chance. So now you're stuck with a compromise. Because that's what could be done Obama should get a medal for it, but here in Europe we still think you're absolutely heartless and horrible people when it comes to taking care of your fellow man. Shame on you, America!

Let's talk after 2016, that is when the taxes and penalities kick in.  However, please look to see the unions and companies that have been given a pass.

There's a big difference between "taking care of business" and being a "financial manipulator." Shame on those who vote for Romney and never did a lick of research -- just listened to Fox spin.

"the case was filed in 2001" So, Romney is retro-actively responsible? I went through the "system" on MA from 96-00 PRE Romney. It was and is a terrible system for children and DSS/DCF etc throughout the entire COUNTRY! Find something better to try to use against him. More uninformed kool-aid guzzlers who don't fact check, just jump on whatever wave the Mainstream Media sends their way!

Oops, you evidently stopped reading a bit too soon.
"Instead of working toward a policy fix, the Romney administration chose to take the case to trial. The evidence showing an inadequate mental-health system was overwhelming and well known at the time."

Romney inherited a failing and shameful system, and instead of fixing it-
he fought an expensive and lengthy legal battle in order to Protect the broken system!
Instead of taking a leadership role and working to serve his constituents, he worked Against them- against children with mental health difficulties and their families. Literally. He fought against them instead of fighting for better services for them.
This story says it all about Mitt's character, or lack thereof, and ability to lead.

apparently YOU can't read further then your cheerio box.....
02:29 PM on 11/06/2012
Oh, sorry, I don't get welfare, so we don't eat Cheerio's! But "The lawsuit over children's mental health was filed under Gov. Jane Swift, but all of the major legal action happened under Romney" Like, Obama would stop something that was already started? No he blames the previous administration for everything, even when he continues a program or tax cut. More Liberal: do as I say and not as I do, right?

Mr. Romney is wrong for the job, in just so many ways. Good thing he has a nice retirement account that he can start accessing TOMORROW! Go on a nice cruise; you've earned it!

Now, take this and multiply it times 50, with the Federal Government's inability to manage anything right, and you'll see the reality of Obamacare.

Good intent, horrible execution.

Wow, you really missed the point on that one.

"the case was filed in 2001"

"In 2004, Mary Ann Tufts had taken her three adopted daughters, who were struggling with severe mood disorders, to the emergency room so many times..."

Wikipedia: "On April 12, 2006, the governor signed the resulting Massachusetts health reform law, commonly called "Romneycare"
