The closure of dealerships is designed to do one thing.

Have less options for consumers, who, in the past might have shopped from one dealership to another.

By eliminating dealerships, it makes it much harder for a potential consumer to make a better deal between dealers. In GM's mind, this is an opportunity to drive up the retail price of new vehicles by making them more scarce in your trading area.

Ralph and we should do what about it? Dump another 30 billion (we will give them 60 bil to reorganize..that's billion), just to stay alive another several months? Bad management leads to failure. The fallout will be devastating. GM will never make it back. We should have taken the money and used it to help the workers, suppliers and communities retool for alt energy and mass transit - which we need desperately anyway.

I wonder why Barrack Skywalker is attacking GM... but completely ignoring the banking industry?

We all know why the GOP is- unionized labor must be destroyed at all costs, even if it ruins the US economy. But I'm wondering why Obama, supposedly a Democrat, is going right along with the GOP's unionbusting efforts, and ignoring the bigger problem.

President Obama is doing more to bust up the unions than any anti-union republican could ever imagine or hope for.
