Gee, has the writer never heard of cash back sites like shopathome.com, ebates.com or mrrebates.com? That would have been helpful information to reader of this useless article.

Unfortunately, it's unlikely that a shopper will be saving money by spending their money.

The government often says that it is saving money by spending income tax payers' money.
08:25 AM on 11/26/2012
I don't remember the government ever saying that.

I think this article may have been intended for those that purchased their first computer on Friday and have decided to see 'what this Internet thing is all about'.

Wow, this is so 'helpfull'.... Why didn't I think of the tricks mentioned in the 'revealing' article??

"...shopping is not about aimlessly browsing or getting everything in one place, says Hoyt. It's about honing your list down to specific items and searching for the lowest prices for each of them....." !!! No Kidding!!! And here's stupid me, thinking that Savings was about huge lists and buying the first thing we see on whichever site pops-up first!!!

"...Once you've narrowed down your wish list, it should take minutes to find the lowest price, says RetailMeNot's Hoyt. Simply plug the item into a search engine like Nextag, Google Shopping or Pricegrabber, and evaluate..." - OMG OMG OMG!!!!! That's how???? Not by clicking on every link on a homepage, or every spam email I am getting????

"...Indeed, try to avoid shipping costs altogether..." !!!! o.0 !!!!

*FAINTS!!!

That might work. In Finland, Friday is pea soup day. The work week ends on Thursday for the Finn's. The Finn's like to drink so much it is the only way they know it is Friday.

Why would I want to shop online from the comfort of my home and save lots of money when I could go to Walmart and punch an elderly greeter in the gut and elbow a mother of four in the throat?

And here is an advice from me: get a really good book and read it whenever you have the urge to spend money online. The results will be amazing: 1) you'll be way much smarter than you used to be; 2) you'll be richer than before.
06:24 AM on 11/26/2012
True. I am reading "The Time Keeper" right now. It is by Mitch Albom and I love his work! Very good so far, he is a very talented writer. I also like Hemmingway and all of his short works and Tennessee Williams is one of my favorite playwrights.

No, not online. Go and buy books from a local small business bookstore - just like President Obama did.

Here's how you save the most money. Don't spend any.

See, that wasn't hard, now was it? Stop buying crap you don't need.

Don't buy anything? You don't buy Christmas gifts? If you were smart you would buy your gifts on black Friday and cyber Monday and save money. Its the exact same gifts you were going to buy for your loved ones but cheaper.

First of all, many people don't buy Christmas gifts. Second, those sales will be throughout the entire month of December. Third, you could show the holiday spirit in a different way such as volunteering for some good causes or just doing something nice for a friend/neighbor/co-worker/anyone.

I'm not a Christian, but Christmas used to have a real meaning. Today, the only thing it means is a capitalist wet dream. So no, I don't buy Christmas gifts. I'll buy something for the wife, but that's it.
