Hashtag...hmmmm. Sounds Germanic. Like Wolfgang. I kind of like it.

Could translate into English as ''Dopeday.'' Not so great.

Rather appropriate though.

My son's Vietnamese girlfriend's name translates as "sliced onions" in English.

7th question: Have you had a psychiatric examination within the past 6 months?
8th question: Do you expect to have a relationship with your daughter once she gets to an age of reason?
03:20 PM on 11/29/2012
If she's a girl, why is she dressed in and wrapped in blue?
03:53 PM on 11/29/2012
all baby girls must be in pink??
06:49 PM on 11/29/2012
No, but new moms and nurses in hospitals tend to go the pink direction for the girls and the blue direction for the boys. It just makes me all the more suspicious that this is a hoax.

Did she go jail? Because that's where she belongs for subjecting her child to a lifetime of mental anguish.

Hope this mom sets aside money for counseling her daughter will need for alll the bullying she'll receive for her name. The name "Hashtag" may be "cute" for now, but she's setting her daughter up for a lot of pain later on in life.

pretty early on I could see that kid picking her own name. Her legal name might still stay hashtag, but she'll probably want to be called something else.
01:20 PM on 11/29/2012
Some names ought to allow the child to legally petition for a change BEFORE age 18....

Looks like mom may not posess a firm grasp of English grammar. Poor child.
12:32 PM on 11/29/2012
That little girl will never forgive her mother for naming her hashtag. Some people are so taken with their wit, in naming their child, that they do not consider the repercussions of said name on their child's life. Life is difficult enough without being saddled with such a name which leaves the child open to ridicule and bullying.

Hashtag, honestly it sounds like a standard German or Scandinavian name.

Sounds like what used to be standard in German. Nowadays the kids are Sarah, David, Jenny, Melissa, Daniel, Miriam, Patrick, Leon, Diana, Vanessa, Jonathan, Tim, Laura (this one's been around for a while). A German kindergartener named Edeltraud or Horst might have the same problems with teasing as a Hashtag.

Like the name Stelth, given 27+ years ago to my son. Who is of Scandinavian descent.

The other two question are if you want to discuss hashtag on twitter, is it hashtag hashtag? And... how do you expect your child's friend's parents to react when they ask if they can have hash as a friend?

Just wondering why, on picture #9 of the Weirdest Baby Names slideshow above, the name Virginia would be considered hard to pronounce.
09:45 AM on 11/29/2012
Yes, apparently Virginia is some weird hard-to-pronounce sexual name like the others in that slide. I am left wondering about the author. Moo is a legitimate Korean name, and it just feels like she's mocking names she isn't educated enough to know. This whole article left me thinking the author was dumber than the Hashtag mom.

I was named after my grandfather - James Francis. I am very happy with my name, and my cousins' names. But come on! Hashtag?! What the hell was Mommy smoking/drinking?
