Yep, wanting the medical coverage you pay for to cover medicine is SO greedy!

I've never been very impressed by her, in fact I feel like she is still just some random person. The only difference between her and other great women is she got political and thus became lionized/demonized. I am much more impressed by people who do their good deeds in a low key fashion everyday.

Did anyone mention courage, truth and honesty!?

A woman of such nature and capacity in the eyes of young girls and women- an example of what an education both inner and outer can do!

Courage in the face of savage dogs and contempt of dark age kind, yet she stood and held her ground: that and much more is why she loved and more:

A Valkyrie in her own right!

A woman who's mind and heart you would like to know and call friend!

As man, yes - to be clear her beauty is in the flesh is but one thing, her heart and mind is what shines through: the fear of the GOP: women of mind and heart

For as poem in this land for them and My Sister, Nieces and Lovers - all I see is the Hate of women and Girl Child about and so is not poetic that the gates of Hell the GOP try to open she stands as the days of old: past the derange Misogynists that say GOD guides them in this????

Atli, Hrímgerðr says that she had seen 27 valkyries around Helgi, yet one particularly fair valkyrie led the band:

Three times nine girls, but one girl rode ahead,
white-skinned under her helmet;
the horses were trembling, from their manes
dew fell into the deep valleys,
hail in the high woods;
good fortune comes to men from there;
all that I saw was hateful to me.[10]

All the negative comments are astounding to me. Ms. Fluke did not advocate for birth control meds for herself. Her stand is to equalize insurance coverage. In spite of the backward, unintelligent, and half-assed reactions, she remains poised and responds graciously.

Go ahead - attack my comment - that simply confirms my opinion.

As an aardvark, I wish they made birth control for animals.

If Time makes her person of the year they'll lose even more readers. Sandra Fluke is a pathetic embaressment.. She's a 30 year old law school grad who can't afford $9/mo birth control pills. It's also absolute hypocracy to demand the government stay out of your bedroom and womb, and at the same time demand that same government pay for your birth control.
02:14 PM on 12/05/2012
inform yourself. your comment is STUPID yes i say STUPID because all the statements you made are false. and also rethink the statement about the governement paying for birth control. were you unaware that insurrance companies discussed are private and not government???? how do you not know that and spew these lies?????
"She testified in front of House Democrats arguing that religiously-affiliated institutions' health insurance plans for employees and students should be required to cover birth control."
so in your world a religiously-affilliated instution is the "government" OH BOY!

What is amazing? Forcing Catholic Universities to provide birth control even if it is against their religious beliefs? What happened to religious freedom? I can't believe this qualifies her for person of the year. It's ridiculous that she was allowed to speak at the Dems. convention.
Is this the new America, elevating anyone to celebrity status? I think she was used by Obama's campaign to galvanize the infamous "war against women".

Let me ask you something. Abortion has been legal in this country for over 30 years. Do you think it will ever be over turned? No.

As far as the universities and hospitals are concerned some of them are self insured so they ARE handing out pills that go against their religious beliefs. I assume Ms. Fluke is an intelligent woman. Georgetown is a very good school. She knew when she decided to attend that it was a CATHOLIC university. If she is not Catholic or religious she didn't have to attend that particular institution. You see in America we have something called FREEDOM OF CHOICE.

I think it's a really sad commentary on the Huffingpost that Brazil's best butt competition made front page news, while this is buried in the Women's section. I'm really disappointed in your news organization.

Sandra Fluke is an inspiration, but some of the criticism she has received from mainstream media this year has been unacceptable. Check out this petition to stop the objectification of women in the media!

There are a great many women of courage and thought. There is no need to compare their ordeals and declare one more courageous than the other. I have two daughters. They are not famous and probably never will be. But I find them both courageous young women who faced up to many ordeals and overcame them in spite of odds stacked against them.

You are right; Malala Yousafzai is great and courageous and fought for women.

Sandra Fluke is also great and courageous and fought for women.

I'm sorry. Can't agree. You would be better off, giving it to the President or even Mitt Romney. There where it all began this year politically.
09:40 PM on 12/04/2012
Yes, she is a woman of the year. Standing before the country to help represent the health needs of women took courage.
Presently I am asking for support. If you go to Change.org under search and type in "Jack Cecil, CEO Biltmore Farms LLC and Liam McGee, CEO Hartford Insurance" my petition is there.

Went public after close to three years privately trying to work with them. After going public have now been retaliated against by both Hartford Insurance and Biltmore Farms LLC.

With support, by signing my petition, I don't think I will experience retaliation again.

If you sign, please accept my thanks. And my thanks, goes out to Sandra Fluke for speaking with courage to an audience, some of whom I've read here would retaliate in commentary, who mostly is very grateful. Meg
