give me a break! this is not news.

Still pretty cool. Have you ever seem it live? It's stunning.

I saw it in Austin, TX about a year and a half ago. I was sitting inside on the couch, and all of a sudden I noticed the light in the room was really strange. I stepped outside and it really was amazing. I took pictures, inside and outside, trying to capture the effect the light had on everything.

So, yeah, really cool and I wish I had seen some news about it at the time, because it was a shared public event that was unusual enough to warrant an explanation.

You're nuts...I took a nap Friday late afternoon and went out that night and this was trippy.

It was the coolest thing I've seen in a long time - so surreal.

Illegal ones, judging by their orange jumpsuits.

What I saw looked more like these, but with an orangue hue.

Too bad the clouds couldn't have been pink or lavender. A true sign from God to the religious fundies that he was blessing the 40th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots.
08:30 AM on 07/01/2009
No, I believe the color would be brown.
08:32 AM on 07/01/2009
They turned pinkish/lavender as the sun set, although they began to disperse very quickly. The whole thing probably only lasted like 10 minutes.

Out here in the desert 'round sunset it's pretty common to see the sky/clouds go gold to orange to deep reds in color
08:32 AM on 07/01/2009
Well, we ain't in the desert, slim.

It's pretty common for the sky in Houston to turn all sorts of colors. Mostly browns.

New Yorkers should really get out of New York occassionally. There's some incredible sunsets everywhere. And there's also much more serious things going on. This is just "New York-centrism".

I've seen these cloud formations, too. However, they were not orange. These look toxic!

Here in the Midwest, I've seen those kinds of skies many times. Very pretty, but nothing strange about it.
