My Father liked him. I asked him why that guy has such a high pitched voice. He said it was all make believe, putting on a show. Yeah right.

If you were going to pull something out of that promo video to write about I would have gone with Al Pacino as Phil Spector.

Perhaps you're too young. He was famous and infamous in Las Vegas and on television.

That's a little harsh. It's not like they said they didn't know who Ben Franklin was or something.

As a teenager I bagged groceries at a supermarket in Las Vegas. I'll never forget bagging for Liberace and his partner while I was there. Liberace laughed as he did and told me I was "adorable". I'll never forget that moment. If anyone else had said that to me I would have recoiled in surprise, Liberace? It just rolled off his tongue with class.

Good story Tiki. Liberace's excesses always fascinated me. I always thought he was so funny...haha funny... not odd funny... he was both "funnys" of course and played that fact like his piano, prancing about, gushing and giggling...sweetly snarky and very witty. This article says he denied being gay. Wha? I was a naive, unsophisticated farm girl back then,(still am except an adult now) did not know what gay was for sure, but sure knew there was something quar thar. If he could not fool me back then, he was only kidding himself.

I had to read the cast playing Liberace and his lover three times before my brain understood who was playing these parts. Michael Douglas and Matt Damon? Gordon Gekko and Jason Bourne?
This could be the casting faux pas in Hollywood history.

It's called acting.
04:14 PM on 12/06/2012
If that is what it is called perhaps they should have hired Arnold Schrawzneggar to play Liberace and Hulk Hogan to play his lover..

I doubt it.

Moms who LOVE Liberace are usually in denial about him.

It just might burst her bubble.

Liberace came to fame in the 50s, wearing a dark suit and no diamonds. He was just a piano player. A good piano player. They "showbiz" came later, and people just went along.

He was one of the first flamers! Very flamboyant - I think of him as the Elton John of the 60s. Great costumes!!

Well, Michael Douglas is a top drawer actor, so I expect a good performance. But whoever did his makeup should get an Emmy nod. Wow.
