Dear Walmart

I've decided that I no longer wish to subsidize your using our roads, rail, sea and airways.  You didn't build those, we did.

I've decided that I no longer wish to subsidize your existence in preference to our home grown vendors via tax breaks, road improvements, etc that you demand prior to you putting in a store.  You didn't build those either, but others  Read More...

It's not their job to think about your private needs. It's your job to develop the skill sets you need to fetch the wages you desire for the costs you incur.
04:54 PM on 12/14/2012
Job skills don't necessarily guarantee that you will get a better job. It depends on how much demand there will be for your skills in a few years when you have finished your schooling and you had better hope that by then, there won't be a glut of qualified applicants competing for the same jobs as you are and who have more job experience than you do. They will be hired before you will even if they take a cut in pay.

In Austin, Texas within one mile of each other are a COSTCO, a Walmart and a SAMS. In the last few weeks the COSTCO parking lot seems to be full all the time while the Walmart and SAMS parking lot seem to be less full than they were last Christmas. We need to keep getting out the word about companies that are good for American versus those that try to exploit Americans. The middle class role as primary consumers is where real political power comes from. This is the way to change America.

Dear America,
See?
We pay our employees so well that they don't qualify for Medicaid.
Just because they can't afford health insurance (or all the food they need, or utilities, or shelter, and have to get taxpayer subsidies for all of those) on their full-time-yet-still-below-poverty wages is not our fault, insurance is about the only thing we don't sell (trying to get into it, though, hear there's big profits to be made, almost as much as our 24.7% gross profit margins here at Walmart that would still be 22% if we gave our employees healthcare).
Sincerely,
Walmart

P.S.- Ignore any old ads you see of Wal-mart "supporting American workers by selling things made in America". That was Sam Walton's way, not ours. He was happy being a multimillionaire from his business. His family, however, thinks each of them being multibillionaires isn't enough, so they got rid of Sam's business model in favor of exploitation

Because Republicans have such disdain for their constituents, why would they care if anyone in their states have health insurance? Since $8 gives you so much extra cash to pay for healthcare, it has never been WalMart's intention to provide health care - just want it to look that way on paper. American Greed has no limit - WalMart proves it each and every day.
12:40 PM on 12/14/2012
Why don't you donate a few of your paychecks to those folks that don't have enough money to buy health insurance?
12:53 PM on 12/14/2012
I am willing to donate a portion of my paychecks so all the babies in the US have health coverage. In civilized countries it is called "taxes". Unfortunately US has for-profit healthcare, and since babies don't provide much of a profit...

Why don't the Walton's (the richest family in the world) uphold their responsibilities to their employees. Contrary to the belief of most right wingers corporations have more responsibilities than to funnel money into their pockets and the pockets of their purchased politicians.

American entitlement has no limit either. I am amazed at how many Americans think that because they feel they are entitled, they shouldn't have to work for anything. America truly is lazy and they live up to the stereotype every day.

It's only going to get worse -- as jobs continue to leave the country and as living wage jobs become part time low wage jobs and as poverty continues to spread across the country.

But continued tax cuts for the super rich is the answer.

This is just one more example of how ObamaCare was poorly done.

And what about Hobby Lobby's problems with ObamaCare? The owners run the company based on their religious values (not unlike Chick fil A). ObamaCare insists that they provide morning-after and week-after pills, even though those are neither expensive nor hard to find, and Hobby Lobby will be fined $1.3 million *a day* unless they forsake their religious beliefs. Thousands of businesses have been granted exemptions for financial reasons (something NOT guaranteed in the constitution), but not Hobby Lobby (even though the First Amendment says that Congress can not pass a law that infringes upon religious practices that are not directly harmful to anyone).

You won't see *that* story in the liberal news media. Again, the only rights the liberals are interested in protecting are their own. Anyone who disagrees with them can just go hang.

Unwanted pregnancies are much more expensive than birth control. Funny, nobody seems to mind Viagra being covered by health insurance.
12:42 PM on 12/14/2012
I mind.
01:53 PM on 12/14/2012
"Unwanted pregnancies are much more expensive than birth control." But people shouldn't need to take so much responsibility for their *own lives* that they should buy a $9 pack of birth control once a month for themselves? Or a pack of condoms? It's their *employer's* job to supply that? What's next? Their employers will buy their food for them, too?

Viagra doesn't cause babies to not be born. If you know of a religion that says humans should *never* have sex, then by all means, let's argue on their behalf against this mandate as well.

More excuses for Republicans treating their own states like little dictatorships.

Punishing the people of their own state because the majority of people voted for a Democrat.

How Republican. How typical.

Set up single payer insurance plan for any state that does not set up an exchange, if those governors want a federal take-over of health care in their state give it to them.
11:16 AM on 12/14/2012
Why blame the companies they did not want this law and most middle class did not want it either. Why put it on the states to supply healthcare for these people let the good old goverment supply it just like food stamps and welfare . The companies pay a wage if the people accept oit it is their problem not the companies . This is only the beginning a lot of companies will be going part time to get out of thei bad law

Employees are part of the company - they work hard to ensure the company is successful. As a reward for that, a company with sales like Wal-Mart, really should take care of their workers. Providing them with a wage and benefits that they can enjoy life on. You have an incredibly antagonistic view of employees - as if they are some faceless, money-sucking expenditure that should be paid as little as possible and whenever possible reduce the cost of labour. I just don't understand that view. Walmart should care for the frontline workers that make their massive profits possible. I'm not suggesting six figure salaries and a Bentley in every drive way. But to simply meet their basic needs by providing a wage that can ensure they eat healthy, live in a safe home, and maybe once in awhile - enjoy something like a trip to the movies or a dinner out.

It used to be in the land: wages and benefits.

Now it is chattel slavery

I see too, the USPS.Gov, well be as all USG offices that well be (.com)

Chattel slavery

Chattel slavery, so named because people are treated as the personal property, chattels, of an owner and are bought and sold as commodities, is the original form of slavery. When taking these chattels across national borders it is referred to as human trafficking especially when these slaves provide sexual services.

I am sure they well say they can leave anytime, but to where?

Everything is .com, and everywhere the same men rule as the same policy endure:

29 hours a week at 7.00 an hour or less:
