We need a French Revolution Part 2 in our own nation! Let's apply the good ol' guillotine to our own First and Second Estates (churches and corporate oligarchy).

And American Revolution 2 might not be a bad idea. Remember, no taxation without representation!

It is comments like yours Oxonian2001 that make me really believe that there are a lot of people who should never get their hands on firearms. "Good ol' guillotine"?
Please elaborate and mitigate the apparent stupidity in your comment above. Please.
You sound like someone who needs some good friends and, maybe, a straight jacket as well.

Translated this means: The banks are making money but you still don't have a job.
10:43 AM on 07/14/2009
"country had a "special responsibility" to help guide the world through its worst recession in decades"...as for our American citizens enjoying 10% unemployment with no health benefits unlike the rest of the world. Well....they can "join the Army" to protect Democracy in Iraq or something.
Because you know "real America"(top 2%) is covered thanks to our "Figurehead" President and his appointees....

Just face it Americans....nobody has your back.

Geithner also said that derivatives were something he didn't see coming. Even though he was the head of the NY Fed.

He misses a lot.

One of these days, y'all are going to fall to your knees and thank your lucky stars for the tireless efforts of Secretary Geithner to save your skins. Mark my rhetorical flourish!

Rhetorical flourish? Is that a new term for "sarcasm"?

LizM.... If you were going to make a post that actually made a point, WHAT WOULD THAT LOOK LIKE?

I think only YOU got any satisfaction out of that post. Do you understand what you think you meant?
10:29 AM on 07/14/2009
Hey Tim, don't you have a tax payment to dodge somewhere?
10:28 AM on 07/14/2009
Wow, the recession is receding even though barely any of the stimulus money has been released? Imagine that. The stimulus bill was forced on vulnerable Americans out of fear. It had nothing but the pet projects of Democrats last 50 years in mind and has done no good. We would have pulled out of this without spending nearly a trillion dollars. You guys a pathetic. Steal from the rich to give to the poor - that's not American and it's very unpatriotic!
10:52 AM on 07/14/2009
...I think you meant steal from the poor(middle class) and give top the rich. The ONLY people with money are NOT helping out. They still enjoy the Bush tax cuts while providing no jobs for that benefit. While our "President" allows wall street to phist our National Treasury the same way Paulson did in a last grab. meanwhile the only strong tone we get from his is for American car companies.

The Audacity of Courage.....

Happy talk garbage indeed.

Anyone here remember Bernankes "subprime is contained" nonsense from the summer of 2007?

Dont believe a word these imbeciles say. They lie constantly, because they know their words move the markets and change economic behavior. So, they are constantly spewing nonsense and happytalk.

Geithner and the bankster criminals at the Fed love to talk optimistically in public. But this is just part of their recovery plan, or wish. They are trying to talk the economy into recovery, by telling everyone its OK to keep borrowing and spending.

I wonder what they are saying in PRIVATE? I have no doubt they know we are screwed and that a final collapse is coming, via a rise in bond yields. At some point the explosion in government bond sales must exceed the ability of the market to fund them.

I wonder if Geithner and Bernanke are secretly (and illegally) buying bonds with printed Fed money and making it look like the market is doing the buying.
10:25 AM on 07/14/2009
They really think we are stupid, don't they?
10:34 AM on 07/14/2009
Well, you see the are the "best and brightest" because they all attended overrated and ridiculously expensive universities. Like getting a Caddy that runs worse than a Honda.
