Not really...this is Ohio and they do not have a chain gang there. Perhaps they could transfer him to a state that does have one or put him in solitary and control his food intake...keep him away from the store where he has bought the junk food available there.

Free him and give him a few good old American assault weapons. Just be sure you point him in the right direction before you do.

Now that Post has his grant of clemency, his new lawyer will be suing the department of corrections for allowing him to become obsese, thereby endangering his health.

We need to change how prisons are run. Two meals a day, instead of three. No more commissaries at any prison, no internet, no more guards that bring in drugs, cell phones or anything else a prisoner pays for and search every employee before they are allowed to entire a prison. And have a doctor on call, no more trips to hospitals. They riot, let them fight to the death. It would save the law abiding citizens millions. Last be not least, if they are given the death penalty, they have 5 years to overturn it or they are done.

What does weight have to do with his crime? He shot somebody. If that was his sentence, then that was his sentence regardless of weight. Just up the dose/charge. Now if his sentence is being commuted based on defense team negligence, which seems to be more the case, then just say so. Don't mask it in "being inhumane".

this country is WAY too easy on criminals. how many criminals have been living on death row? it's call death row for a reason, so why are they still living, and living pretty well compared to others living conditions

well, i don't know if this is the reason, but there have been cases where it turned out someone on death row was later proved innocent. so the death sentence doesn't exactly need to be instantly carried out.

it's been said that you can judge a society by the way it treats its prisoners. i don't know if that's true or not, but i think we're more or less fair to our inmates.
06:58 PM on 12/18/2012
he did it, it's just that the judge feels he wasn't properly represented if you read the whole article.
Tranlation of legaleze;
judge feels the defense lawyer didn't try hard enough to put the this killer back on the streets even though all the proof that he did it was presented.

What in the WORLD have they been feeding him for him to gain so much weight? I thought a prison would keep inmates at a healthy weight. Since he is now 450 pounds, the governor should have ordered he be put on a diet and exercise regimen until he was small enough to execute. If the exercise was to strenuous for his heart and he dropped dead, then that would only save the state thousands of dollars. As others have said this only sets a precedent to eat like a pig and get so obese that one can use being over weight as a reason NOT TO BE EXECUTED as sentenced legally in the original trial. Why is the poor victim(s) ALWAYS forgotten, where is the justice fo the innocent?
04:11 PM on 12/18/2012
If your excuse for commuting his sentence is "he did not get a fair trial", and has nothing to do with weight, then he deserves a new trial. How was his guilt established beyond a reasonable doubt if the govenor freely admits he did not get a fair trial? Spending life in prison is hardly a consolation prize if you are innocent.

He admitted to being guilty of the murder.

They should just turn him loose and let him live out his life as any other normal murder.

When the criminals in the U.S. have no fear of the Justice System, knowing they can get an Attorney and usually get away with their crime, they become more Brazen. A person can kill another, get the death penalty and "30" years later have it commuted??? Please, give me a break.. People wonder why other people feel the need to own guns.
