This clearly isn't a comprehensive list. I grew up in the 80's and only had two of those things, He-Man and VHS tapes. What, no G I Joe or Thundercats?

G.I Joe, Thundercats, Mask, Jem, Alvin and the Chipmunks, Smurfs, Snorks, Gobots, Transformer action figures, Atari, Nintendo(NES)...I'm just sayiin!

For girls it was Rainbow Brite, My Little Pony, Cabbage Patch Kids, and Strawberry Shortcake. My daughters don't remember any of these toys but that was because they weren't born until the 1990s.

freedom!!! yeah, right!?

Ahh, the infamous battles of my Star Wars action figures against my sister's Cabbage Patch Dolls, Barbies and Strawberry Shortcake dolls, while G I Joe held down the combo Lincoln Log fortress/Ewok Village were EPIC!!!

No Ninja Turtles?

When the topic is little boys' obsessions during the '80s, any list that omits the half-shell heroes is bogus.

Hair band posters. As an actual drummer, I hated them, but they were in all my friends' rooms.

Bandanas of many colors.

8-tracks - had to push the channel button midway through Billy's Scenes from an Italian Restaurant.

8 tracks? You mean cassette tapes? The Sony Walkman.

Nope. 8-tracks. Then cassettes. Definitely had a Sony Walkman, have a totally different one now, MP3.  http://i.ebayimg.com/t/BOSTON-VINTAGE-8-TRACK-TAPE-/00/$(KGrHqF,!k8E4lRUc(%20dBOJndetyzw~~0_35.JPG.  We had a "reel to reel," too.

...an Atari and/or Commodore 64 covered in GI Joe Figures (gotta have Snake Eyes), Garbage Pail Kids scattered all over, a headless Rainbow Bright doll (to tick off sis), a nearly 10 inch wide skateboard with no nose and tons of tail, gargling a 7up Gold, ready to head out in my big bro's Yugo to get some Shanghai McNuggets, but then stopped from going because after blowing up an egg in our brand new microwave, my dad... rocking his Members Only jacket, made me stay home so I just watched music video after music video on MTV.

Literally, video after video.

Hair bands. As an actual drummer I hated them, but they were everywhere. Rush was more my scene.

Bandanas of many colors in many places....

8-tracks were still around. Gotta push the button midway through Billy's Scenes from an Italian Restaurant.
