His proposal is unconstitutional. The ammendment says "A WELL REGULATED militia..." To be regulated means operated or in effect under regulations. Regulations are law. Being based on English law as it related to Parlimentary action regarding Protestant gun ownership in the COUNTRY of England, "a free state" refers to our country rather than individual states for ultimate responsibility for the "well regulated" mandate.

Please look up Federalism...while you are at it, notice that as used, "well regulated" means properly functioning...

Our constitution is federalistic and our states buy into it through ratification of its terms.  To be "proper", there must be some common definition of what is and is not proper.  That definition is set forth in law.

I dont trust myself with a gun how could i trust anyone else with one? I was practicing a quick draw in front of my full length mirror and forgot that i had reloaded my revolver. I blasted the mirror to a million bits. soon after that i realized how easily that could have been a friend or relative there in place of that mirror....i gave away my revolver and every gun that i owned. Like i said if i cant trust myself with a gun why should i trust you with one.

Because maybe I am more careful? Because I've had extensive training in how to handle and use a gun safely? Because I treat ALL guns as if they are loaded even if I "know" they aren't?

I applaud your decision to get rid of your guns. As you said, you don't trust yourself around them and you should be congratulated on being honest with yourself. And you would be right not to trust anyone else with a gun if they even hint at being as lackadaisical in handling them as you were (at least during that incident).

No question. Guns are dangerous. It doesn't mean *everyone* doesn't treat them with the 'respect' they deserve.

Nothing wrong with the USA becoming one vast Tombstone, AZ of the past or Mexico of today. There could be a new OK Corral every weekend.

Where does the GOP find these guys?

I'll help you out there Robert, 1790, the first congress did it when they passed the Crimes Act.

Is he really this ignorant?

I'll never get over members of the government wanting people who hate government and continually fantasize of overthrowing it to have all the guns they can stockpile.

You have to remember that most Southern Republicans are more stupid than the average Republican. Part of it is because their water and food is so polluted it has clouded whatever intelligence they may have had at some point in their lives.

WHAT???
Scottland (they are still fighting the Brits)... Canada (sacked the French) ....Ireland...ROFLMAO @ Brittain (which has overthrown numerous kings).

Australia and New Zealand were commonwealths of Britain...how do you think they gained their independence???

Every nation you mention has "warded its rulers" and then eventually rebelled to independence.

"Congress have no power to disarm the militia. Their swords, and every other terrible implement of the soldier, are the birth-right of an American....[T]he unlmited power of the sword is not in the hands of either the federal or state governments, but, where I trust in God it will ever remain, in the hands of the people."
