Don't yall see that this is a Political ploy?

Congress has given itself a pay raise ... and enjoyed Cadillac healthcare plans (and incredible pension plans) at the expense of taxpayers while raging against Government spending and fiscal conservatism.   At no point did Michele Bachmann NOT enjoy the same benefits.

Besides - Bachmann's  family thoroughly enjoys all sorts of  Read More...

Bachmann couldn't care less whether she got paid, because she's loaded, just like the rest of them, thanks in part to the insider trading they were all doing before the Stock Act was enacted. Insider trading has always been illegal for everybody else though. I wonder what other illegal activities they are legally allowed to do that the rest of us are not and never have been. I suggest we let rich have the Senate and have some serious campaign reform so regular non-millionaire folks can run to serve in the House. At least then, the 98 percent might have some representation in the government for a change, like we're supposed to.have and don't.

If she's a lame duck, all they have to do is put the bill into committee, and consider it to death.

She kept her seat in Congress, can't figure out why it read "last legislative action." It would of this Congress, she might be offering the bill again next week?

Because of redistricting, she will be the rep for the 6th district, but the district covers some new areas while letting go of others.

I never thought I would say this about Bachmann but.....I agree with her. Now let's see how it works out. My guess would be that the House GOTP won't find the time for THAT legislation. Cutting SS....why, yes! Cutting Medicare......Oh, yeah! Cutting funds to vets....you betcha! Cutting their own pay.....oops, ran out of time.

unfortunately, congressional pay is tied into the entire federal pay package, which includes all the ordinary people, from janitors to clerks and secretaries on up, that keep they government running. after three years, they'll get a 0.5% pay increase.

if bachmann wanted to do something, she would introduce an amendment that blocks all elected officials from receiving pay raises. but her proposal would ensure that no one will see an increase.

Thank you, posie.  I doidn't know they were all tied together.  I agree with you, she could introduce something for elected officials only.  Bet that won't happen!

Congress needs to have 401Ks and health plans just like the rest of us. No more free rides on our tax dollars. Oh and pay raises based on performance with annual reviews. When they leave office no more health insurance unless they pay for it like the rest of their constituency.

I never thought I would ever being saying I agree with this woman. If she told me the sky was blue I would have to go look. However she is right. Congress shouldn’t be getting a raise. In my job my raise is based on performance. If you review what out congress has done in 2012 Obama would out of his mind to give them a raise. I don’t care about how many bills they passed. It’s the quality of bills. I don’t see any big improvements. I don’t see things getting better.

Hold on! So she proposes something actually good for our country after years of ridiculous rhetoric and the "liberals" condemn her for it? You people have obviously never been gifted a rose before. I know it's hard to see clear water through the sludge, but it eventually bubbles to the top. That being said, she is an opportunist but at least she's getting something right on her way out.
