Sticks and stones... Are Emirs, in general, so thin-skinned? Is their dignity so fragile?
03:29 PM on 01/07/2013
so much for freedom of speech, and to think that just posting something on twitter can land you in jail.
05:11 PM on 01/07/2013
Thank god we do not live in Kuwait, this event clearly indicates their lack of freedom of speech

Sure glad we saved their nation and shed our blood for this Kuwait Fascist nation under Bush the elder...out payoff is they agreed to continue to sell us oil at high prices...the Bush's sure make great deals...what a legacy.
When are we going to just come home and let the Arabs kill each other in peace.
02:51 PM on 01/07/2013
This is what we 'liberated' Kuwait for ? I've come to the conclusion that our ENTIRE foreign policy, since 1990, can be expressed in three letters : oil.

Hug your 1st Amendment, America. Love it and appreciate it. A lot of other people don't get one.

Our "1st amendment" is a smoke screen. What we say, do online, can easily be flagged, allowing the feds to watch our every move, and incarcerate us without a warrant.

hug your 4th amendment too, it is being stripped bit by bit in the name of anti-terrorism.

That doesn't make it right though. At the very least we have some means of resistance to that sort of governmental abuse.

I assumed this was an article about an english twitter user being jailed in England. Clearly the Kuwaiti authorities are following our example.

Funny you should day that because it seems that Kuwaiti authorities are also following the example of the Unitarian Universalist Association of Congregations aka The U*U Movement which accused me of the archaic crime of blasphemous libel, which is still in the Canadian Criminal Code, for allegedly making "unfounded and vicious allegations to the effect that ministers of the Association engage in such despicable crimes as pedophilia and rape." Of course the key word in all that legalistic bluster is *unfounded* and the comparatively few blog posts I have made about Unitarian Universalist rapists are by no means unfounded aka unTrue. . .

But if you want a laugh you can see the actual cease and desist demand letter courtesy of Stikeman Elliott Barristers & Solicitors litigation lawyer Maitre Marc-André Coulombe here -

http://emersonavenger.blogspot.ca/2012/07/marc-andre-coulombe-stikeman-elliott.html

I don't think I have to worry too much about actually being convicted of, and jailed for, my alleged blasphemous libel against the Unitarian Universalist "religion".

jesus..

Between your literary ignorance, and myopic, insular ethnocentrism, u are quite a tool.

no=KNOW, peace=PIECE, desent= DISSENT, cotton=CONDONE.

Can no one spell at all any more?

If you want to be understood, start using the English language properly. How you've achieved over 500 fans is beyond me..

Twitter tweets are usually not read except by the management who looks to suspend accounts for those who are critical of the Right...like me.

It's a good thing that the west liberated Kuwait from oppression and totalitarianism in 1991.

You must be confused, it is England which first started jailing twitter users for comments on twitter.
06:28 AM on 01/07/2013
Which is irrelevant to Kuwait's situation
