He's also a lawyer (Florida Bar). When Clay Matthews wraps Cutler around his own goal post, Trestman can serve papers to the Pack - right there on the field.

Interested parties can't serve papers in Illinois or Wisconsin.

But I work for a company that can. :P

He seems like a really good hire and fits the Bears well. Especially in today's NFL you need a QB minded coach and they got it with him.
08:39 PM on 01/16/2013
horrible signing by the Bears, he was 49ers OC after mike shanahan, late 90's. if you look at bill walsh's 49ers coaching tree and those who got head coaching jobs like: holmgren, dennis green, john gruden, andy reid, ray rhodes, jim fassel, sam wyche, brian billick, mike tice, jeff fisher, gary kubiak, tony dungy, lovie smith, mike tomlin, rod marinelli, (whew) mike mularkey, bruce coslet and a few others. The fact that this sissy was exiled to canada until after the late great Walsh died should speak volumes about his credentials.....good luck chi-town

The Chicago Tribune put it best in that this hire is "swinging for the fences." Could be a home run of a complete bust. Listing to Chicago sports radio this morning with most call-ins were pretty disappointed. Knowing Bear fans, I'm not sure they would be happy with anyone.

The reality is that most of the time you don't know what you're getting. As a Packer fan I was real disappointed when they hired McCarthy, I wanted Sean Peyton. It turned out all right.

Chicago didn't have a coaching problem, you have a QB problem. Cutler is and always has been a bum. Just ask Denver fans. By the way WHO IS THIS GUY?

We loved Cutler in Denver.

Not really, nobody likes that guy. He's one of the least liked players in the league.

Lovie went 10 - 6 and lost his job. If I were Trestman, instead of buying I'd rent my first (and maybe last) year.

10-6 isn't impressive since that was STILL third place. The Vikings also went 10-6. The records of the NFC North teams were pretty even across the board. I mean, the division champion Packers were 11-5.

10-6 sounds good on paper, but it's still third place, after several miserable years. Also, there needs to be a coach who can motivate people to win without Cutler if he gets hurt. Two years in a row, Cutler gets hurt and the win streak becomes a lose streak pretty quickly. There needs to be a guy who can run an offense with a backup QB and win a game or two.
