All of this fear mongering is sickening. How on Earth would terrorist get one over here without it being detected and shot down by U.S. forces? Of course awareness is important, but not to the point of inciting fear.

They would ship it in pieces by FedEX to their buddy in D.C. who would put it back together in his garage before use . Feeling the fear now.

What the headline means to say is that the US is implementing a plan to have 30,000 drones in our own skies which could (and likely will eventually) be armed for use against Americans. The drones over America plan is a widely known fact. For the pathetic naysayer zombies, simply search "Uncle Sam Prepares To Unleash Up To 30,000 Drones Over America For "Public Safety"

Actually I have NO problem using drones over our cities to stop crime. I have heard of police helicopters being shot at over our inner cities and drones would be safer and so quiet the criminals wouldnt know they are being watched and their entire crime taped to be used against them in court.
What I would like to see is drone technology using infra-red technology which could identify illegal drugs from the skies to be able to take out drug houses.

Why do you loathe your country and the Constitution so much that you are willing to give up your rights and liberty for a false sense of security???

Loose Lips Sink Ships. It's pretty clear from Admiral Blair's past record in dealing with Democratic Presidents (former President Clinton is an example), that the Admiral has no love lost for the administration and especially how he departed. He's not much of a team player from what I've heard and what he contradicts himself with what he stated in the article. We are in good shape with our superior Drone Program and our defenses, are second to none just like our military itself. He's also supported Republican Presidents and their ideology for quite some time as is self evident from some of his past statements and dealings. His scare tactics to unsettle the citizens in our country is absurd and frankly I'm rather surprised that a Flag Officer like Blair would be foolish enough to say what he did.The President has an Excellent Drone Program that goes after our sworn enemies and eliminates them. We also have Outstanding Defense Agencies and appointments like John Brennan as the new CIA Director. My suggestion to the Admiral. Take a world cruise on a ship and enjoy yourself during your retirement.

Where does it take off from ? All air traffic is closely monitored around a president. I doubt anything would go undetected in a close proximity around him. So sorry , you have to try another way to scare-up readers.

Guys like Retired Adm. Dennis Blair scare me. Just because you have a drone doesn't mean you have the sophiscated control systems to make it lethal.
12:01 PM on 01/23/2013
Large remote control planes have been available for decades. These include placing cameras to allow the flyer to see where the remote control plane is going. I know, I have been involved in such actions. No problem to construct, learn to fly or direct it to where you want it to go. You don't need rockets/missiles - I bet you can find everything you need on the net.
