I did a 4 minute study with my 5 year old cousin Hanna( see picture above) and we came to the conclusion that anyone who spends 4 years studying this topic is probably running out of things to study. And if you used a federal grant, please keep it to your self. It's too early in the day for my head to explode.

probably cause happy couples don't need to have sex, a great exercise, all the time to be happy, while unhappy ones do because they believe it will make them happy.

hmmm i wonder if the smart scientists have stumbled onto this?

I prefer to be a little unhappier, if those are the consequences.

It's a scientific fact that marriage causes weight gain. It's shown that single men look in the refridgerator, see nothing interesting then go to bed while a married man goes to bed, sees nothing interesting and then goes to the refridgerator.

When I got married my husband and I decided he would do the cleaning and I would do the cooking. In the beginning I would cook these wonderful meals. Comfort food meals. I was cooking like my grandmother. I was so happy in love that I found so much joy in making meals that we felt good eating. My husband didn't start complaining until he realized he had to replace his 36 pants to 42! Now, we don't do all of that. We eat healthy and sensible. I still cook great meals, just without all the 'comfort' and fat. We both gained a lot of weight. Luckily, we got hooked on this shake diet called Visalus. Now we are back to our pre-wedding sizes. Though unhealthy, those were great days.

People gain weight when they get older. Deal with it.

"Inhale".

"Waiting to exhale".

Finally found Mr. or Ms. Right.

"Exhale".

M-A-R-R-I-A-G-E.

Weight gain.

Joins fitness center/eating right.

Weight loss.

Absolutely. Both men and women gain after the wedding. For various reasons and, as far as I'm concerned, not of them good.

But women especially gain because they have to cook for (more than likely) a bigger person.

Bottom line(!), staying "on the market" keeps you trim. It's an attitude toward the world that is totally responsible toward oneself. I am at least 25 pounds lighter than comparable women who are married. I see it all the time.

If you are not 'on the market' you don't have to live your life like you are.

Eating well and being tone is a lot of hard work.

My most drastic weight loss was when I got divorced.

Another ridiculous "study".

Weight gain can be caused by an unhappy marriage also.

Or an unhappy relationship. Or unhappiness period.

But the bottom line remains the same. Too many calories taken in, and not enough calories burnt off...whatever a person's situation is.

I reckon this study is flawed. Yes, people are happy to start and gain weight because they don't think it matters anymore. Later on, when the couple is disgusted by each other, the marriage isn't so happy anymore. Maybe they want to study the before and after weight gain up to separation.

I've always said, "What's the difference between a wife and a girlfriend?"

Oh, about 25 pounds...
