Hopeful that this is the end of this war monger. How many of our kids need to die before the people of Israel fires this guy. The nation of Israel is clearly in a major downturn as long as they keep people who goal is to show how badly Israel can act. Bibi grew up in the rich family on the mainline of Philadelphia. His cries that he understands the suffering of his people is empty cries. His father did not serve in the effort to destroy Hitler. Why his father elected to not serve is known. Lieberman is gone in disgrace and soon hopefully Bibi

What people outside of Israel don't ever get, since most focus is solely on hating Jews and wanting the Muslim declared war to succeed, is what's just briefly mentioned in the article: Israeli internal politics. The centrists won seats because of the inequity in Israel's own society. Bibi's a neo-con just like the folks who controlled the Republican Party before the tea baggers took over. The failed economic policies that benefit the 1% to the detriment of the 99% has worn thin in Israel too.

When the centrists talk about negotiations with Pals, they're not talking as Meretz and Labor used to do, giving away a lot. The failure of Pals to build a civil society after Israel completely withdrew from Gaza and a section of the northern West Bank showed Israel that. What they want is to continue to encourage West Bank Arabs to realize peace works better than war, and to build tighter economic relations that will help that. It's not that they believe, as the Arabs do, that the 1948 ethnic cleansing of Jews should be enshrined in law, it's that Israel should work to accommodate more talks to see what happens.

Returning something you stole is not giving anything away.

No, what it shows is that when you withdraw from territory you stole and fire 7,700 shells over the following 10 months, you clearly don't want peace.

>> It's not that they believe, as the Arabs do, that the 1948 ethnic cleansing of Jews should be enshrined in law,

Whereas the ethnic cleansing of 800,000 Arabs is simply dismissed as necessary.

"Returning something you stole is not giving anything away." True, that's why the Arabs didn't give anything away when they lost the land they stole in 1948.

"No, what it shows is that when you withdraw from territory you stole and fire 7,700 shells over the following 10 months." Very delusional of you. Again, read UNR181, Jews and Arabs were supposed to share the land, but Islam says sharing in equality with infidels is "stealing," hence your argument.

"ethnic cleansing of 800,000 Arabs"? Not quite.
1) 1949: Israel, with 700,000 people, has an 18% Arab minority
2) Today: Israel, with more than 7,000,000 people, has an 18% Arab minority
3) The disputed territories have also seen an order of magnitude growth in Arab populations
4) All Jews were killed or evicted from every place captured by Arabs in 1948
5) All Jews are required to leave all areas Arabs now want as a second State in British Mandate Palestine
6) The PA has a death penalty law against selling land to Jews
7) 800,000 Jewish refugees from Arab lands wiped out the populations

You have a very strange definition of 'ethnic cleansing' based on supporting a war to destroy a sovereign nation and ignoring the facts.

Then Israel should start thinking about surviving sanctions. It isn't about a Palestinian surrender..........it's now about JUSTICE and a viable, fully independent state of Palestine.

"it isn't about a Palestinian surrender." The inability of you do call for the people who unconditionally declare war to unconditionally end it is clear indication that you're in favor of jihad.

"JUSTICE." If the were the case, you'd be honest.

"Viable." The distance between E1 and the Jordan River is ~15 miles. The distance between the narrowest part of the armistice line and the Mediterranean is 9 miles. Unless you plan on widening Israel, you have no grounds to discuss viability.

"fully independent." Not while it's still at war to destroy a sovereign nation.

"State of Palestine." Tell you what. When you can get them to end the war, pass laws of equality similar to Israel's, accept Jews as citizens and protect their rights, then I'll support that call too.

He is lucky that the president didn't try to meddle in their elections like he did in ours, and throw his support to his opponent. Right now he would be packing home, leaving enough space for peace to set in.

Exactly how did Netanyahu meddle in the US elections, because I don't see it? The only thing that can be construed that way was the "Iran red-lines" affair but given that the existence of Israel is at stake, it is quite reasonable to suppose that Netanyahu was being sincere.

Obama probably did meddle in the Israeli election with the leaked comment about Israelis not knowing what is good for them.

Once again the pundits were wrong about the pre-election sentiment of the electorate. All the early coverage was pro hard line, and now we see that the Israeli people are about evenly divided.

It sounds like Bibi used the same election pollsters as Thurston, FauxNews and the American right wing - with the same result, smacked in the head with reality when the results came in.

The Israeli electorate is more diverse and fractious than we EVER hear about on our news media. A little more balance is definitely called for.

That's the assumption, anyway.  But what little foreign affairs coverage we get should at least be accurate.  The Israeli electorate is as diverse as our own, but you'd never know that from watching our news media.

Fascism. A system of government that relies on an internal sense of fear to justify its militarism, that demonizes a group of people in order to create an "other" enemy. that aggressively seeks to expand its land at the expense of others.   Fits pretty well doesn't it.

"When you dig one ditch, you better dig two. A ditch for me, and a ditch for you."

Netanyahu plotted away. He inserted himself into American electoral politics, seeking to unseat our President Obama. Obama won re-election handily.

Not so for Bibi. What kind of name is that for a grown man, anyway? The kind of name you have when you align with people who say things like "poopy head". Just an observation.

Seems like the people of the world have decided to take a stick to nastiness, and beat it back, beat it down, get it out of our faces.

Let me be clear. I want what Netanyahu started finished. I want to see him go down, be vanquished, see another with sense get that seat who's power he willingly abused.

Netanyahu is nothing but a terrorist warlord with decent PR. If Israel manages to kick out the sociopaths and install into government some people with genuine human empathy, they might be able to pull out of the tailspin into which they're currently headed. If not, then we're likely to see a smaller-scale retread of 1930s Germany, except with the Jews as the aggressors this time.
