"Ahmadinejad ... seems to have adopted a strategy of pressuring Khamenei to either force him out – which would be a confession to Khamenei's poor judgment as the main support of Ahmadinejad – or live with Ahmadinejad's continuous assaults on his position and close associates ... Either way, Ahmadinejad will turn out a winner."

That's the problem with claiming to have God on your side. Somebody is sure to call the bluff sometimes, and it won't be someone with higher spiritual concerns.

It worries me when I agree with Iran's supreme leader.

A religious leader refereeing a political contest on the basis of morality and integrity...? Imagine that?!?!

Yeah, especially when he doesn't have any more of either than the politician does.

"morality and integrity " two things most religious leaders know nothing about.

I always wondered why the 72 virgins. It's not like most middle eastern men can deal with one woman, virgin or not.
Who wants an untrained bumbler...? Besides a pencildick virgin himself.

This story is nonsense. I have been reading and hearing since 1979 that the Iranian Regime is both illegitimate and about to be toppled by democratic forces.

Here we go again with the words of Iran "expert" Suzanne Maloney. Just because the Supreme Leader and Ahmadinejad are having a public spat does not mean that the country is unravelling and ready for a secular Western style democracy. On the contrary, it is how healthy democracies function.

Iran has a constitution, which is a lot more than all of America's friends in the region have.

The article didn't say anything about this internal dispute being a precursor to a democratic government. The Soviet Union had a constitution. What's your point?

Democracy? "Don't listen to those who speak of democracy. They all are against Islam. They want to take the nation away from its mission. We will break all the poison pens of those who speak of nationalism, democracy, and such things."

The biggest challenge Iran faces is simple ... very high youth population with few economic prospects ... that always spells trouble for a gov't.
