The reality of the Sequester is not an attack on “people of color” it is an attack on our total intelligence as a society.
1. It is not taken out of our national budget. We do not have a budget and haven’t had a legal national budget since the arrival of the current administration.
2. We are being miss-led as to the affects that a 2 percent cut MUST include.
3. The Administration is not being transparent as too what could be could be cut, if they were to propose a real budget.
4. The Sequestration does not take funds away from the current level of spending. It cuts down on the growth of future budgets, if they ever get proposed and passed.

Seems strange to me that every word out of the mouths of politicians, including the prevaricator in chief, are designed to win the game of “political power”. The question should be this: Why are they propagandizing a situation that they created. The sequester was not originated to fix our spending problem it was first suggested by the very pack of political hacks that are now out spreading fear about its “pending disaster”. We, in our collective ignorance, have allowed our politic to hijack our countries government. No longer do politicians look for the means to help our country they instead are playing politics like a kindergarten game. Instead of looking for solutions they spend all of their time on political propagandizing. This is more like an attempt to kidnap our country for an ideology, and that is true on both sides of the aisle and particularly in the case of the White House inhabitants.
I, for one small piece of our society, am sick and tired of those folks who put the spin of racism on every subject that hits the public in the eye. If you think that poor people of “color” are mistreated look at the real causation. Articles, and the underlying residual anger that creates their origin, are a waste of time and talent.

Let the cuts begin!

The ONLY reason a "grand deal" was not reached in 2011 is OBAMA DOUBLED his demand for tax increases the very last minute, even after he and Boehner had agreed verbally on the deal. The sequester was OBAMA'S IDEA! He thought the GOP would stopm it because of military cuts. But he was wrong.

The price of stocks went up. The value of stocks did not go up -- the value of the dollar went down. The stock market "going up" is an inflationary phenomenon. In the past four years, the price of gasoline has gone from approx $2.75/gal to approx $3.90/gal. Gasoline didn't change, but the international perception of the U.S. dollar sure did lose ground, big-time.

"The dollar is up a bit less than 4.0% over a year against a trade-weighted currency basket, in substantial part because of economic weakness, fragility and radical policy in places like Japan, Europe and Britain."

Unbelievable.

In every single article where a republican says that minorities are dependent on government and rely on a disproportionately high number of government programs there are literally THOUSANDS of angry comments on here calling the republican a "bagger" and reminding them that "more white people are on welfare than minorities" while throwing out all kinds of other nasty names.

Here we are, an African American author says the exact same thing and... crickets... You people are a bunch of hypocrites.  You can't claim that white people use more government welfare and at the same time cry that a lose of government welfare will disproportionately affect "people of color."  Sorry.

You're trying to combat whining progressivism with logic and rationality? That's the first mistake.

You're supposed to say 'everything is bush's fault'.
10:36 AM on 02/26/2013
"In order to avoid significant damage to the U.S. economy -- and particularly to communities of color across the country -- congressional Republicans should agree to a balanced package to replace the sequester and its damaging cuts."

The Republicans will never agree because they a comprised of mostly conservative whites who put blacks in this situation to begin with. Why would they agree to a balanced approach? You think they want blacks to be economically stable? No! An economically stable community of blacks would mean that we would be fair competition to them and Rockefeller said himself, "competition is a sin." We're not included in the American Dream. We've always been excluded as a collective race and we always will if we continue to look to these people as our saviors.

Yes, its always somebody elses fault. Try looking into your communities, only then will you realize that the only people keeping you down are your own.

How would you know anything about what has continued to suppress the black community? You are not a part of that community so you shouldn't have thing to say about who is to blame. Once you've had the experience then talk to me. Anyone who denies the existence of white privilege/white supremacy is either mis-educated or severely feeble minded.

As always in a heartless national situation, the poor get poorer while the rich get richer. This cycle of inequality and inhumanity has got to end. Americans spoke up loudly and clearly in the November 2012 election that we reject Republican policies and budgets; and that we embrace what our President espouses. But the obstinate obstructionist GOP continues on its blind, backward, plutocratic, tone-deaf path as if the elections had never happened. They impose THEIR WILL upon our nation, and our nation be damned! This is what the Republican Party is foisting upon us, and we must not allow it.

Call your legislators. Sign petitions. Post comments on all social media. Join marches. Involve yourself in local community activism. Write letters to legislators. America must not let our guard down, and the GOP must not silence our voices. This is what they're hoping for: that we'll get tired and say, "Oh, well"...and let them do their selfish bidding.

Ever heard the words "balance," "compromise," "bi-lateral," "smart cuts" rather than "dumb cuts"?? I hope so, because these words have been out there since before the election, and the American people overwhelmingly, in poll after poll, support these courses of action.

No. Have you not heard of "balance," "compromise," "smart cuts vs. dumb cuts"?? These have been terms used frequently throughout the past year, and that the American people overwhelmingly support, based on frequent polls. These are the answers.
