Bill Cavala, a Democrat who worked in the Assembly speaker's office for more than 30 years, wrote in a blog Thursday. "The capitol community is like, in many ways, a combat fraternity. It is not surprising that the men and women involved in the political trenches together should be attracted on another level as well."

Yeah, right, Bill. But at least in combat the soldiers are all on one side.

THIS IS SLEEPING WITH THE ENEMY!

So he's either lying about having sex with lobbyists or he's lying about not having sex with lobbyists. Either way he's a liar and an too immature for politics.

Actually, looking at this guy I'm inclined to believe he was making it all up - Who'd sleep with him for free? I think he's been reading too many of the letters in Penthouse.

Who said it was for free? Lobbyists pay women of dubious repute to seduce legislators, regardless of what those turds look like.

What about the guy he was talking to? He knew that Duvall was sleeping with a lobbyist and yet he did nothing. That seems like an ethical breach to me.

I read in an Orange Co. rag that he was relieved of his duties on the Ethics Committee as punishment for not turning in Duvall when he knew about the multiple affairs with lobbyists who had business before Duvall's committees.

If he didn't have the affairs, then why did he resign?
11:01 PM on 09/10/2009
Is it just me or does it seem that every week we have a righteous, conservative, Republican involved in some sort of sex scandal?
11:05 PM on 09/10/2009
It's either sex or racism lately.

Storytelling?

Yeah, yeah... that's the ticket (typed with a Jon Lovitz impression :)

"Campaign finance records show only relatively small donations to Duvall from Sempra, including $1,500 to his re-election campaign in March and $1,300 to his officeholder account in 2007 and 2008".

I guess we can't put a value on sex.

As an insurance agent, he'll obviously lose clients, but then he'll gain other good ol' boy clients who will want to hear the spanking stories.

Oh it sounds like someone spoke to a lawyer.

I sure hope there's appropriate reporting of the "contributions" this guy has been getting from these lobbyist/whores.
10:19 PM on 09/10/2009
It seems to me the real problem with government is lobbyists. I don't recall the U.S.S. Constitution saying anything about lobbyists or the Democrat and Republican parties for that matter.

Lobbying your government is a time honored tradition that began as I recall, in Germany, but it may have been in England (Parliament). The term "lobbying" was coined because the lobbyists were required to stand in the lobby to talk to their governments representatives.

George Washington stated, "Lobbyists would be the bane of this country."

Very smart man, President Washington.

They get their so called "authority" from the Constitution on the basis of the rights of "citizens to petition." However, the Constitution states "...for a redress of grievances."

I would be quite happy if it could be outlawed.
11:32 PM on 09/10/2009
Agreed ... the ONLY lobbyists should be the voters.

Its gotten sick and is destroying out nation.

WHY is lobbying not banned ... WHY?
