I wonder if family members who seem to be no-where; are lined up to help him spend his money. Hopefully someone decent is on his side to assist him with financial planning.

It may sound excessive but, having been a victim of a drunk driver, I would prefer that all of them get such time incarceration. As it is, few ever see the inside of a jail.

While I sympathize with your misfortune, do you realize that you are advocating that people simply suspected of running afoul of the law (or did you miss the fact that the man's case was dismissed?) be subject to one of the harshest punishments for two straight years? This man was denied his rights to due process & a speedy trial. I too would like to see those guilty of DWIs given sentences with some tooth in them, but I am not willing to shred the Constitution to see that happen.

Without a trial there is no way of knowing if he was drunk driving.

Mr. Slevin's blood, sweat and tears earned each penny of the $15.5 million. Shame on every corrections officer employed at the Dona Ana County Detention Center, while he was incarcerated. It is a certainty they all were aware of their "prisoner's" repugnant 'living conditions', gross neglect and abuse. One would expect this to happen in Mexico or South America.

Here is hoping Mr. Slevin has a new start in life, and... if he was intoxicated on the night in question... learned a valuable lesson.

He has my best wishes.

It doesn't take very long for solitary confinement to break your spirit as well as your brain. I know this intimately.

this isn't Iran, you sick %(#(@ who did this to him! there's some seriouslyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy messed up factions within PD's across this country, who do things like this and somehow think it's okay!

He deserves every penny - nearly 2 years being tortured in AMERICA, with no legal representation for his crime the entire ordeal!

This was a travesty no doubt, and totally inexcusable. That said, where is the ourage for those who were in charge of the fast furious debacle where many people have died? We have heard nothing in the past few months and those in charge have walked.

Totally agree. As a victim of a drunk driver, I have to really try to get up the sympathy vote here, although I do see it as a somewhat miscarriage of justice. But still ....

amen to your comment. I know the money will be nice, but if I was wrongly detained for 22 mo. in SOLITARY, I'd be mental. it's disgusting what they did to him.

This is only the tip of the iceberg of the "real" American Justice system. This man is only one of thousands, who never get the appropriate exposure to the legal atrocities.....in America!
