TIME TO START CLOSELY MONITORING THE WATER AROUND US. JAPAN'S NUCLEAR CRISIS WILL AFFECT ALL OF US-OUR OCENAS, OUR LAKES, OUR AIR WILL BE FULL OF NUCLEAR WASTE AND THE BEACHING OF WHALES AND DOLPHINS IS TELLING US WE ARE NOT SAFE. THE VERY FISH THEY EAT ARE INFECTED WITH WASTE! JAPAN NEEDS TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE!

What about the USA's nuclear waste? We had a meltdowns and accidents. Oil companies (all of them) need to be held accountable too.

It is estimated that there are hundreds of millions of tons of plastic rubbish floating in the world’s oceans. In Japan alone, it is calculated that 150,000 tons of plastic is washed up on its shores each year.

how?
09:44 AM on 03/24/2013
humans treat the ocean like a toilet bowl , maybe human waste, chemicals, deepshore drilling, overfishing, are not the problem in this case, but eventually humans will pay...

YOU ARE SO RIGHT!!!!! What we need to understand quickly-we are running out of clean fresh water and when this leads to severe shortage WE WILL DIE!!!!! and governement is doing NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!
10:42 AM on 03/24/2013
LOL! HaHaHaHaHa! Get a grip---we are not running out of water, every drop that has ever been on this planet is still on this planet, we may have to find new ways to get at it or clean it but the fact remains...It is here!

Rain and snow are continous supplies of clean fresh water. Ask the people in the North-east about their lack of snow this winter. Just the water that we allow to flow out of the Mississippi River into the ocean would supply the whole country. There is no shortage of water. Take a look at a globe for verification.

I don't understand your point. Is there something particular affecting mammals as opposed to other types of animals?
12:18 PM on 03/24/2013
We are holding back their evolution.
