This is a non-starter. Age-old canard, based on flawed methodology. If you have something completely boneheaded, just get the others to scientifically disprove your theory, grab a bag of popcorn, and kick back, and then say: see, they can't disprove me, hence my theory must be right!

Good point. Just like when Adam is naming animals; in what language and to share them with whom? Didn't god know what he was creating? Did he need an inventory?

"Georgia Purdom [wrote] "Both creation and evolution are outside the domain of ‘observational science’ .
"Scientists, however, have dismissed the Literal Genesis Trial as a publicity stunt."

Scientists have also dismissed Georgia Purdom. What she says is wrong, BTW.
I'm disappointed in the Huffpo reporter Meredith Bennett-Smith. Why is there nothing about what the creationists will consider to be "objective, valid, reliable and calibrated" evidence? Was the question not asked? Was the question not answered? Where they evasive? Did Meredith not know what to ask? Its not enough to just insert subtle digs. The general public does not understand how YEC anti-science education propaganda works. Even this article leaves the impression that there is genuine scientific debate involved. No doubt Bennett-Smith graduated from a fine journalism school, but journalism schools stubbornly insist that its the reporter's job to report all sides of the story, not debunk propaganda.

Summary of Harry Potter Chapter One - "The Dursleys are a well-to-do, status-conscious family living in Surrey, England. Eager to keep up proper appearances, they are embarrassed by Mrs. Dursley’s eccentric sister, Mrs. Potter, whom for years Mrs. Dursley has pretended not to know. On his way to work one ordinary morning, Mr. Dursley notices a cat reading a map. He is unsettled, but tells himself that he has only imagined it."

Summary of Genesis Chapter One - God, a spirit hovering over an empty, watery void, creates the world by speaking into the darkness and calling into being light, sky, land, vegetation, and living creatures over the course of six days.

Which one seems to more fable and myth?

You'll blow at least 10k in attorneys fees trying to get your money. I wish they'd make a real bet like we atheists do and give a million to anyone who can prove something faith based. James Randi is a God!

Aw, yes...the Amazing Randi, (Randall James Hamilton Zwinge), whatever happened to that guy? Neverless, this one is not an atheists but then to each their own, however, whatever one chooses for a believe it is based on personal preferences...so be it. Regarding the Bible (a good book by my view, nothing more), those so inclined have said many times "God is unknowable", hence my stab at being flippant.
On a grander scale this one believes we are all connected in some way, just how...who knows...maybe it is 'Unknowable'. Best wishes...oh, BTW, I think your bet is a safe one, however 'something' seems rather vague.

Parts of Genesis were "purloined" from the earlier Sumerian Gilgamesh Epic. Therefore, as a matter of logic, I would suggest they start with trying to disprove the precedential Gilgamesh Epic before moving on to Genesis.

"Various themes, plot elements, and characters in the Epic of Gilgamesh have counterparts in the book of Genesis, notably in the stories of the Garden of Eden and Noah's Flood.

The parallels between the stories of Enkidu/Shamhat and Adam/Eve have been long recognized by scholars. In both, a man is created from the soil by a god, and lives in a natural setting amongst the animals. He is introduced to a woman who tempts him. In both stories the man accepts food from the woman, covers his nakedness, and must leave his former realm, unable to return. The presence of a snake that steals a plant of immortality from the hero later in the epic is another point of contact."

Once upon a time in the far, far distant future...
06:17 PM on 03/28/2013
I don’t agree with either of them.

You can read this book on line.

Ch 1 Life—How Did It Start?

Differing Viewpoints

... interpretation of the Genesis creation account has led them to claim that the earth is only 6,000 years old and that the six “days” allowed in Genesis for creation were each only 24 hours long. But ...was the earth, and all its life forms, created in just six literal days? Or is there a reasonable alternative?
... to reach accurate conclusions, we need to consider the evidence with an open mind...

Science Not at Issue

... Every informed person is aware of the amazing accomplishments of scientists in many fields. Scientific study has dramatically increased our knowledge.... Scientists have performed astounding feats, even sending men to the moon and back. It is only right to respect the skills that have added so greatly to our knowledge of the world around us, from minutely small things to infinitely large ones.

Chapter 2 Disagreements About Evolution—Why?

Ch 3 What Does Genesis Say?

... the first chapter of the Bible deserves at least a fair hearing. The need is to investigate and determine whether it harmonizes with known facts, not to mold it to fit some theoretical framework.

Chapter 4 Could Life Originate by Chance?

+ 16 more chapters considering the subject,

Life—How Did It Get Here? By Evolution or by Creation? (2006 Printing) at ---

> An outspoken creationist is offering thousands of dollars to anyone who can scientifically disprove the Biblical creation story.
No one offers $10,000 unles they are sure they won’t be paying it out. Proving the the Biblical creation story is just as difficult as disproving it. The Bible was never meant to be History but a story of History set against a Christian framework.

Definitely a story of history as passed down by word of mouth for centuries to people who were unable to read or write. Eventually a written language was available and those who had been given the "job" of remembering this story were able to write it out. Undoubtedly there had been variations of details, but there seem to be basic likenesses in different parts of the world concerning some of those details, like the flood. And there again there's the procreation by incest thingy someone posted on earlier..........are we indeed all descended from Noah's children? They and their wives (are they ever identified?) must have had scads of offspring once they were back on dry land.
One thing about Noah I always wondered about.....why in the world did he take a pair of mosquitoes and one of houseflies along?? Horses, cows, even elephants and rhinos I can sort of understand, but add fleas to the "why them" list!

> are we indeed all descended from Noah's children?

Good point. Science says we are not but then you’re talking to folks who think the world is only 6,000 years old. This is strictly 12th Century thinking.

Well siad. faved. Have a great weekend

Of course, but he's too honest to even make the offer unless he can back it up. Unlike Mastropaolo, who has no intention of paying it out. If he did, he already would have, since it's easy enough to prove that the biblical creation story is not factual.

That just shows that a day to God is different than a day to humans. The creation day and the 24 hour day. Keep reading and when you come to part (2 Peter 3: 8) that says a day is like a 1,000 years to God refund the money.

It's an unwinnable argument because the creationists make up the rules. You point to the age of rocks based on sedimentation rates, tree ring data, etc and they will counter with, "That's how God made it all from the start." You ask what the "law" are that govern God's miracles and, "God is all powerful and can do anything," and, "We cannot begin to understand the workings of God." It's a free-for-all vs. a logical rule-based system. Logic can't stand against ever-changing rules and "mysteries".

And yet, those who think their invisible friend miracled everything into existence believe they're right because science can't prove them wrong.
