Zandi is getting this post for one reason only.....his support of Obama. I doubt Zandi will do anything meaningful as a head of FHFA.

Great! Another book writing economist that worked in the industry closely associated with the Wall St. banks, the credit raters, like Moody's. The very ones that investors depended on to investigate and rate the securities being offered in the marketplace, but instead they offered their rubber stamp of approval for cash to the banks, and to add insult to injury trashed the country's credit when it rescued the bums. Yeah, let's put another person who doesn't know what he is doing in there and watch as he gets corrupt, just as a number of Housing officials before him have done.

Given Mr. Zandi's "Obamagasms" all over the media during the previous election cycle it comes as no surprise to us he could be rewarded with a plum government posting. Should it come to pass in short order Freddie and Fannie will become tools of the WH's "housing relief" schemes and their bonds will decline in value.

They may as well hire Dodd and Frank to finish the mess they got us into.

Barney Frank is too busy with his new husband and making the rounds on the guest speaker/lecture circuit. Not sure what Mr. Dodd is up to: why not drop him a line?

How did Frank and Dodd as members of the minority party until 2007 block the GOP from implementing the proper reforms?

Sounds like Obama-ism is already talking about a Clinton Housing re-run.

It would seem Mr. DeMarco committed the unforgivable sin of a government official; he did his job well.

Freddie and Fannie posted profits according to their most recent financial reports and while neither are not out of the woods yet at least the flow of blood has been somewhat staunched.

This was done in part by Mr. DeMarco resisting the usual "Barney Frank" type interference from the WH and liberals in Congress to use Fannie and Freddie as a tool for their own political aims. The history of such meddling sowed the seeds that lead to the mess both agencies now find themselves.

Time was Obama spoke of shutting down Freddie/Fannie, but now we hear a different story. LIke every other bleeding heart liberal in Washington he has discovered the things have use to him and his policies and thus must be brought to heel.

Given the current fascination with the undead one wonders just what it takes to destroy these "monsters". A stake through the heart? Silver bullet? A crucifix and holy water?

I have but college was 40 years ago.  Not one of the experts called the crash of 2008 or the resulting depression.  The Economist have been pronouncing the Recession over for three years and America is still on the precipice of failure. The only sector that has recovered is banking and it is pretty easy to see why.

Wait for it. Wait for it. Are we going to get a deluge of bagger comments claiming they know more about economics than Mr. Zandi simply because President Obama may appoint him to this post?

Similar to the ritual unsubstantiated trashings Paul Krugman gets?

You had to wait 12 minutes. See post from "Keith Texas" immediately above: "Too bad, economists don't know anything about reality.'
