"NEVER doubt my love, BUT as long as I live, I will ALWAYS love you" How's this harmful in a relationship? "I will NEVER DIVORCE you" or how's this one "That *!@#$% will never hurt you again"

These words were worse for me: "Three way with your best friend". Don't use these words. Really.

It isnt the words, its what is behind those words. You can have adult healthy discussions and use all 5, and still be good with eachother.

It's not the words that are the problem, it's the motivation behind them that paints one spouse as "right" which means the other must be "wrong." When we treat a marriage like a debate, where one party is deemed the winner, the marriage is the true loser. It takes maturity and a willingness to let go of ego enough to let the marriage win, even if it means that you have to release being "right." http://lessonsfromtheendofamarriage.com/

I agree Lisa. Ego can be very troublesome in marriage. I know I was guilty of wanting to be right. It seemed so important to me at the time. Hah!

Now, I could care less. My divorce was very humiliating on the one hand, yet very humbling on the other. Both of these made me a better person. And I also learned to be okay with being wrong.

I'd give your comment to my wife, Mrs. Always Right, but I have to work tomorrow and I'm too tired for a fight.
