And I thought by being politically correct like Stephen A. and Stuart Scott you had a job for life.Or talk about Kobe all the time.

Axed staffers told Deadspin that ESPN was canning older, higher paid workers so they could replace them with younger, cheaper workers. That’s diabolical and horrifying. Who needs outsourcing?

We do, and the faster the better so we can fix the mess you guys are creating. When the freebies run out, everybody can be equally POed about the Government.

The 4-letter has about 200 on-air robots & bimbos, who are WAY overpaid. Why not just let a few of them go.

I do not like seeing anyone lose their job, but see how you are cleaning house. Please start with Jaylin Rose, Magic Johnson and the rest of the NBA team working the Playoff for ESPN. Then we do not have to change the channel at the half or stop watching the min the game is over. This is the worse team have seen ever, in the history of sports.

I don't watch much TV and I try to stay away from ESPN.com. The biggest reason for my boycott is they force you to pay to be an "ESPN Insider." The bulk of their in-depth analysis, especially in football, requires you to be an Insider. Screw you, ESPN. I can find the same info on SI.com and CBSSports.com, and I will do just that.

I wait until I can get ESPN the magazine for $5 for one year on Discount Magazines and then I get the Insider for free. No way am I paying more than that to read the same stuff for free on other sites. Heck, the only good writer they have is Bill Simmons.

Agreed, Simmons is the only reason I ever go to their site.

I don't get this.. disney spends 4B plus to acquire SW, the parks prices steadily climb, Sportscenter has NO competition.. and they claim they are losing money... and they need to "control" costs...? one thing i do know is language..and to control cots is code for boosting ones pockets...more likely the shareholders...

ESPN, please stop showing Lacrosse, Poker (which isn't even a sport!), and other crap that nobody cares about. Oh, and ENOUGH SPORTSCENTERS ALREADY! If you need something to broadcast, try televising ALL of the games in college men's baseball and women's softball tournaments instead of just showing the championship games.

Personally, I LOVE watching poker and always want more quality telecasts, so your statement that 'nobody cares about' it definitely is not true.

poker isn't a sport.

You have my full support when it comes to getting poker off the air. As for lacrosse, I've followed the game for nearly twenty-five years and it's going to continue to grow. College baseball and softball deserve the same increased coverage.

Wow. You do realize they are still hiring and this is the elimination of redundancy and not a result of fiscal instability? Ok, maybe you don't from your comment.

Your tin foil hat is showing in public. We are doomed.
12:56 PM on 05/22/2013
No it wasn't the elimination of redundancy. You have no idea who was laid off. I do.
05:10 PM on 05/22/2013
agree with justlaid off. I know too many people who were just let go. It wasn't redundancy so please comment on what you know.

Mike Patrick....hOOly COW! could go and I would be happy. I could turn the sound up on those games instead of having to watch it in silence.
07:16 PM on 05/22/2013
The most brutal broadcast team in sports history is hands down, without a doubt, Patrick and Joe Theisman. Listening to those two jokers robbed me of 10 to 15 IQ points that will never be recovered. In spite of that, my own layoff experiences were such that I could never hope that it befalls another person. Now if he gets reassigned to any non-speaking, off camera position in the organization, I would consider that a beautiful thing; a victory for sports fans everywhere!

Those hundred employees will be replaced with immigrants working longer hours for way less ! That's becoming the new American way ............. cut n slash !
