The least those senators can do to show how deeply they believe in offsetting emergency relief aid is to forgo their government salaries and benefits until they pay back the entire amount. That'd make them return to the private sector fast, and we'd be free of their pathetic politics.

He's probably still working out government funding for the trip. It takes a while to work out the most lavish transportation and housing.

You're right, Mikey! And it takes time to walk the good senator across the nation from Washington in one of those Pharaoh caravans with the runners carrying the Royal Carriage on their backs!

Many children died due to a lack of storm shelters in their schools!

WHY IS THIS NOT A SCANDAL????????????????????????????????? Anybody?
09:56 AM on 05/23/2013
I am curious about that one as well. We go 8 months on Benghazi for 4 Americans who died from "lack of protection", meanwhile more children than this have died from "lack of protection" from not putting in storm shelters in areas that are known to be Tornado repeaters. Can the Republicans explain why they won't spend the money on storm shelters to protect our children? Lets start an investigation.

Both senators from Oklahoma have "A" ratings from the National Rifle Association.

And from a lot of other people, too, who say the A stands for a certain anatomical orifice.

It is a good thing that the people of Oklahoma don't have to depend on their Senators...a fact I hope they will remember at election time!

This is so frustrating...Coburn & Inhofe want to offset costs of relief by punishing those "NEEDING" the relief. The rich people get to remain rich & tax free.

Let's see these two Senators bucks up some of their easy money from their government paychecks to help out their fellow Oklahomans.

And then maybe the good people of that state can look deep in their hearts and recognize that they people they've elected to represent them would turn their back on people in the rest of this country during their time of need. Is that who you want representing you? What if the rest of the country did that to you? I don't see your representatives putting the word "United" in the "United States."

This is the kind of injustice that prevents actual progress being made in America. Those who vote against the social safety net are, yet again, the recipients of benefits from that safety net (see also: all of the South). Oklahoma should simply be left to rot. If the people don't like it, they can stop voting Republican.

I heard the blowhard cobu(R)n say the damage was only 168 million dollars and that everyone is insured. give this little piggy 168.5 million and then cut the Okla crop subsidies by that SAME AMOUNT. their you go tommyboy-offset.
08:58 AM on 05/23/2013
we as Americans need to help. However as Americans the good people of Oklahoma now have some context in which to judge the actions of the "men" they elect.
