WWI was supposed to be the war that would end war, the last war but of course it wasn't. A generation was lost then and because of extremely severe terms with regard to compensation by Germany, resentment and hate by Germany set in and the most terrible of men and the most terrible war followed. We became so arrogantly enthralled with our own power and sense of self-righteousness that after we found  Read More...

LAST TIME I CHECK...John McCain (Manchurian Candidate) was SOUNDLY DEFEATED at the polls in 2008, who nominate his Secretary of State. This guys is trying to run out the clock trying to have a legacy, 32 years in Congress and he has NO MAJOR ACCOMPLISHMENT. What a waste!!!!!

What was there to waste? He got through the USNA and a navy career because his father and grandfather were . admirals. He got shot down over Vietnam and was a POW.. He got into the Senate because he posed as a war hero.

This is a very bizarre story. If he went into Syria through Turkey, who are friendly with the rebels, a. Why did the rebels not come to Turkey? b. how did he communicate? In English? Who were the interpreters?. Did he take they with him into Syria?. He was only there for a few hours. Bottom line, this sounds like nothing like a political stunt. He was never the brightest bulb in the room, but this is beyond the pale. Lindsey Graham's flippant remarks about McCain's office seems to confirm the trip as silly.

The trip was designed to undermine the President's agenda. The President has a meeting scheduled for June to discuss diplomatic options. McCain is there trying to make the President look bad and force a military intervention.

John McCain and the Republicans are trying hard to get their military contracting buddies some new contracts to make more weapons of mass destruction
09:09 PM on 05/28/2013
We already have atomic weapons. In fact the 'O' is unilaterally scraping them, So don't worry about that

You think he's 'scraping' them clean or something? Na, the almost 400 billion he's set aside to 'modernize' them involves something other than just scraping them, even if he used soap!

McCain met with the Syrian rebel leader handpicked by the US - "General" Selim Idriss - while in Syria - there are photos available of the two together below.

General Idriss is the guy who was exposed LYING about the Syrian Army using Sarin gas just a couple of months ago as he tried to HOAX the US into a war with Syria.

He's the Syrian Ahmad Chalabi - he's the handpicked by the Neocons (and McCain) to s*ck the US into a war with Syria.

Does McCain care about the Sarin hoax by Idriss? - heck no! - McCain was the one all over the airwaves trying to force-multiply Idriss' lies - McCain was trying to drag the US into a war back then BASED on these lies.

Idriss is our 'Hamid Karzai' of Syria - he will do ANYTHING for our money

Do Not worry your little head. Obama will help the Muslim Brotherhood when necessary. Just as he did in Egypt and Libya. And in Lybia without any congressional approval.

Never mind that most Americans don't know there are several rebel leaders and they haven't accepted Idriss as the commander or speaker for all of them. Idriss has clearly shown himself to be unreliable, what do the other rebel faction leaders think of him? McCain's stunt is borderline traitorous.

Let's just ask McCain to give us a list of the countries he DOESN'T want to attack.

There's one of the list - it's Israel

He's actively called for wars against the Russians in Georgia, the Iraqis, the Iranians, the Syrians ...

Can we please get this madman off the TV?

Did McCain go there with the knowledge and approval of the administration, or did he just decide to play maverick? If the latter, it was very bad form, and too bad the Syrians didn't catch him.

He nor any person doesn't need permission to go anywhere moran. Only unless anyone tried to visit a country at war with us. Oh wait Hanoi Jane visited North Vietnam when we were at war with them. I guess there are no limitations. And we can even go to Cuba w/o the press permission- just via Canada. Get over it

The white house was aware of it, but could do nothing to stop it. Clearly they aren't happy as it undermines the current diplomatic efforts and confuses the Syrian rebels.

I hope Obama doesn't listen to McCain and send these unstable "rebels " high tech arms. Which will eventualy be used on us. whats with politicians who want a background check for a 50 year old ex marine with a flawless record to buy a .22 but want to send these people high tech weapons with no questions asked

Haven't the 10,000 heat seeking, shoulder launched missiles the Drone Driver already gave Al Qaeda been in the press in the U.S.? After reading that even the controlled U.S. press had admitted to your support of Al Qaeda I just assumed it was about those missiles, dang. I guess their televised promise to use them on you after they're done their terror assignment in Syria hasn't hit the press up there yet either. Someone better tell the TSA they're too big to fit in your underwear, so they can start looking elsewhere for the threats.
09:27 AM on 05/29/2013
They have already taken down numerous shanooks in Afghanistan, and they don't have to smuggle it threw the TSA,ever here of international flight

It's time to keep the weapons at home. We never help in these situations we just make things worse and end up escalating the violence while gaining next to no positive outcomes. (see history.)
Our weapons are for our defense. How about we just keep them for us? Who knows maybe we won't have to spend even more money to counter against our own stuff in another 6 months.

Honestly, whether it be Republicans or Democrats, we don't need to get involved in the Middle East's political issues. Yes, we might be doing it for political gain of the US, but it is going to just cause another war, and we really don't need that. I mean look what happened with Iraq. Both McCain and Obama are at faults here.

"We need to have a game-changing action: No American boots on the ground, establish a safe zone, and protect it and supply weapons to the right people in Syria who are fighting for obviously the things we believe in," McCain said on "Fox News Sunday" earlier this month.

If we are going to protect and supply weapons to them won't that require us to protect and supply them using American troops. How does McCain know they will do anything anybody can just tell you something you want to hear, and do something completely different.

I have a suggestion for you. Stop writing an opnion based upon what you think, and read or view the truth from BBC and other reliable sources. For example, don't you realize that this is a sectarian war? Notice that all the rebels are of one religion and all of the government is another. Not that I like Iran, but how is it that they are supporting the government? And Saudi Arabia and others are supporting the Rebels? Are we thinking yet? And have you already forgot about the Russans? They have good reason to support the government. So much tat they provided their best surface to air missiles to the government to defy your safe zone. Lastly, no one in the country is fighting for "the things we believe in." It's their religious civil war, and helping one side over another will cause ethnic cleansing greater than that which occurred the Bosnian war.
