These days hackers are treated worse than murderers.

Sure. Murderers are only a threat to the regular guy on the street. Hackers can be a threat to those who are in control.

Looks more like he is being treated like a fella who stole 1000s of credit/debit card numbers from 1000s of innocent, hard-working citizens and used it to buy him and his buddies $700k worth of 'stuff'....

Try to pay attention to the common denominator.

Calls himself Robin Hood, but apparently skipped the whole 'give to the poor' aspect.

The law that protects who? I am still trying to figure that out because what I hear and what these people claim to stand for is not what I see each and everyday.

This seems to be the topic of our time. While I understand the need for security; The growth and interconnectedness of Law Enforcement disturbs me. Government seems to be less and less transparent and more and more insulated from interaction with its constituencies. This trend does NOT augur well for our future as a democratic republic. The issue is this: How do the people control a secretive government from running amuck? Any insights will be appreciated.

I don't see anyone complaining about the hacking...

It's more the $700,000 in stuff they bought with Joan and John Q. Public's credit cards.

Damn hard to respect someone who 'claims' to be robbing from the rich, yet actually robbed from the people and gave NOTHING to the poor.

True that is very nasty. But the larger issue will affect many many more and likely more profoundly.

I might have rooted for the guy exposing the spying but, he DID profit from his acts and that alone would make Robin Hood hunt him down.

Exactamundo!

He didn't steal from Big Biz or some wealthy dolt... He stole from you and me.

Actually, he probably would have been allright but, he just wasn't too big to fail..in keeping with those who get caught stealing from U.S and acknowledging it happens when you don't have good locks on your doors. ....

Naw, he didn't steal enough to qualify for employment by an Alphabet Soup Agency.

"I did this because I believe people have a right to know what governments and corporations are doing behind closed doors,"

right. that explains why he stole money. he was obviously trying to get to funds up to buy up airspace for a superbowl commercial that would explain everything. right? i mean, it's not like he was going to use the money for himself, or anything. noble and kind, this one.

Terms of imprisonment in this country are as absurd as allowing a business to grow beyond being to big to be allowed to fail.

I second that. This country has become one of zero accountability on the part of the people causing the most damage and harm.

If he wanted to escape prosecution, he should have been the CEO of a bank as they don't seem to get prosecuted.

Groups like Anonymous are essential to a healthy democracy. We as citizens should always protect and defend the existence of such groups.

Not if you're one of those who let fear of terrorists scare you into giving the feds anything they ask for including your wife, kids AND that kitchen sink.

"Hammond couldn't stand to live in a country that served companies who profited off of spying on the citizenry."

"He's a true patriot," the tweet said.

So is Holder. Maybe they can share a cell together.

Well he's going to do the time. Otherwise DON'T do the crime if you can't do the time.

Good luck. Maybe he can be rehabilitated into what? A Republican?

Anything would be better than the thieving Liberal he is at the moment.

My guess is that he was probably a thief before being your proclaimed Liberal, like people like Sheldon Adelson and the Koch brothers, they're next. And don't forget the Tom DeLay frogwalk is COMING.
SO Awesome!
