Come on folks. Ayotte is simply demonstrating that the GOP does not have a gender-bias when it comes to supporting measures that are contrary to the will of the people; both male and female GOP members are fully prepared to do the wrong thing. Call this the GOP version of gender equality.

That's a fact, Jack. She did vote against comprehensive background checks and now falsely claims to support them. She IS a hypocrite of the highest order. New Hampshire voters will make her pay.

Draped in the flag, bible in hand and they stand there and lie in your face. That's what I can't stand about theze people. They claim to have all of this religion and then they turn around and do everything the bible say's not to do.

Just take advantage of the fact that the public doesn't understand how bills work, and take your word for it when you lie and say a bill was simple and only about one issue.

I don't see any hypocrisy. She just favors more gun related deaths.

Typical liberal nonsense.

If only you liberals would defend fundamental gun rights with the ardor in which you defend the right of women to kill their babies and the right of homosexuals to sodomize other homosexuals, we'd be the freest country in the world.

Comments like this are the reason we need background checks.

Maybe so, but to do nothing is worse.

Ms. Ayotte, you can not serve two masters: the teapeople and the people of your state are 180 degrees apart on this. You chose the cheap thrill over the conscientious, thoughtful vote. The people of NH will not forget this as being the event that unmasked you as a patsy for the tp and the gun manufacturers. And you almost tried to appear reasonable. Fail.

Hilarious. They get some police chief from a small town where the population is mostly white and he wants to talk about background checks and gun control, for others That chief should move to the south side of Chicago and see how that works out for him.
03:12 PM on 06/04/2013
Why don't you move there with your gun? See how it works for you!
03:15 PM on 06/04/2013
I am not the one mouthing off. The chief is. Scared to address the issue?
Instead you make some childish and immature comment. You bring nothing to the
table.

What is the point of passing stronger legislation on background checks if you aren't enforcing those that are on the books? Why do we continually think that having more laws will change something when, in fact, the laws we have are not being enforced? Why do we think that we will enforce more laws?

And the rhetoric from the left is 'pass another law' when they know that won't change a thing. Why do you refuse to look at the enforcement of our current laws and ensure that gets done before we start passing more laws that won't be enforced? Is it because you believe that more laws give people the feeling they are safer when, in fact, they aren't? Having laws that are not enforced and then adding more laws that won't be enforced seems like the tail wagging the dog!

I'm glad the NRA and the Republicans are supporting her. It's going to be hard for them to outspend Bloomberg.

It's unfortunate that there is so little honesty in politics. In this story, both sides appear hypocritical.
