I can save the Archbisop a lot of time. If the clergyman is in a civil partnership, then he's having sex.

Just . . . Ugh. Welby seems determined to turn the church of the English Enlightenment back into Rome's lapdog.

Archbishop Justin met with Pontiff Francisco last week. The latter may have put the bee in the archbishop's pointey hat.

I guess there are Anglicans who also want to reduce their church to a small row boat of true believers. Something similar to former pope Benny 16's Roman trireme.

The Ship of Fools becoming the ship of the unquestioning "orthodox". With the former and current pope at the helm leading it over the waterfall.

I guess you are still at it, promoting mockery and antipathy.

A trireme, by the way, is no small rowboat.

...ummm..
...just ruminating here..wondering as I wander and vice versus.
...is this inquisition o' sorts also to include clergy from the Archbishop up and down the ecclesiastical food chain as to their sexual activity...same-sex or heterosexual...in/out of a committed relationship or otherwise?
...as is stated, are we to assume bishops/archbishops (and in the case of Catholics, cardinals and Popes) are exempt/above such questioning?
...'the pot calling the kettel beige'...sounds to me.
...religious, common man...politician..ask personal questions usually means y'a passing the buck, obfuscating, diverting attention from self!

It's probably time for CoE bishops to lose their seats in the House of Lords. Considering how few people in the UK take the Anglican Church seriously anymore, it's time to do away with that nonsense.

See, now that is the way to find a willing partner, instead of what they usually do.

Religion's battle against nature and the body tries to twist sexuality into something dark and evil rather than celebrate our bodies and the desire for connection as gifts of God. Instead, the darkness and evil is in the hearts and dirty minds of the evil-seers, resulting in the sick way much of sexuality is held in our society (rape, forced marriages, the battle against birth control and a woman's right to choose, using sex to sell beer and cars, preventing the education of our young people about sex and reproduction, and on and on.

They'll lose the battle in the long run -- ideology and dogma are no match for the evolution of consciousness and compassion -- but we all lose in the meantime.

Religion's battle against fallen nature is its calling. The Church refers to sex within marriage as being akin to the union with God hereafter.

A woman's "right to chose" is a misnomer because nobody has the right to order the murder of an innocent.

Religion's battle is against fallen human nature. The Church celebrates sex within a marriage as the closest representation on earth of what our union with God in heaven will be like. In St. Peter's you see those 4 twisting columns around the alter. Those are like posts on a 4 post bed.

A woman's "right to choose" is not really a right. Nobody has the right to order the murder of an innocent human being.

But I wonder where the "Church" comes up with their stance on the subject, because it is not biblical at all. The fact is, everybody seemed to be going at everybody else all the time. I mean, heck, Solomon wrote soft core porn, fer crying out loud. But I do actually know where the whole "chastity" thing came from. It was societal. If the woman had a baby with no father around to care for it, the community, if it was caring, would have to step up to care for it. So having a kid without the guarantee that the father was going to stick around was highly discouraged. Then the "Church" said "Hey, we can use this for greater control of the masses!" And, Bingo, there you have it.
