Good old nature. As Woody Allen reminded us years ago, it's not our cuddly "mother"; it's just one big restaurant.

Sperm whates and giant squid have been at it for millenia. The squid never win but, like Republicans, they never seem to learn either. Never. Try. To. Wrap. Your. Tentacles. Around. A. Sperm. Whale.

I watched something on TV that was pretty close to this...

MegaShark vs Giant Octopus. It had Debrorah Gibson in it. It was awesome and the MegaShark was always trying to eat Giant Octopus.

This is pretty neat, but being that they were sighted off Japanese waters, I doubt they're still alive.

How dare you publish such heresy. A Mother Sperm Whale "TEACHING" her young how to dive and forage food for itself and not rely on the government to come up with a plan to feed the youngster? What bad habit are you teaching??? Now, the young whale is self-sufficient and can fend for itself and not rely on Whale Jesse and Whale Al to have to come to it's aid. Please publish another story on the oppressive nature of the Great White Whale and how it is keeping the other peep whales down and only allowing them to eat the crappy krill.

Absolutely fantastic photography. I'm eating my heart out. I never really got any great shots when I was photographing fish and other life in fresh and salt water. This photographer is really super.

Back in the day, when whaling was common
Sperm Whales were frequently found to have
circular scars over 12 inches near the mouth.

Maybe over-fishing of squid doesn't allow nearly as many to reach the age/size they otherwise could.

No animal is more awesome than a Sperm Whale.
