Part of the pathetic, pomp and circumstance of the papacy. I chose God over the RRC. Think of Apple, Samsung, Xerox, Exon, General Motors and the RRC. They are all money making businesses. Only the RRC has the temerity to lie, steal, kill, sexually predate and take your money in the name of GOD. It's a vulgarity beyond comprehension.

Understand that this "Sainthood" is not from the Word of God, it is a man-made tradition by the Catholic Church.

The Bible says all Believers and followers of God's Son Jesus are Saints.

The Catholic Church "awarding" Sainthood to a man is a made up tradition NOT from God, it is kind of like the Queen giving Paul McCartney a Knighthood.

The word “saint” comes from the Greek word hagios, which means “consecrated to God, holy, sacred, pious."

It is almost always used in the plural, “saints.” "…Lord, I have heard from many about this man, how much harm he did to Your saints at Jerusalem" (Acts 9:13).

"Now as Peter was traveling through all those regions, he came down also to the saints who lived at Lydda" (Acts 9:32). "And this is just what I did in Jerusalem; not only did I lock up many of the saints in prisons …“

All Believers and followers of Jesus are Saints ...These are things the Church may not tell followers who do not read the Bible

Jesus is 110% real and mankind will soon be destroyed exactly as was told..You are going to find that out very shortly, albeit a bit too late for you personally, but very soon indeed...The groundwork is all being laid right now, all that's left is to pick the day and push the button...

According to Matthew, written at least forty years after the time Jesus allegedly lived, claimed that after Jesus died, dozens of zombies were walking around Jerusalem. Problem is that not a SINGLE Jew, Greek or Roman alive at the time bothered to write it down.

The Bible records that God literally wiped out entire nations including women, children, cattle, etc. In addition to that, God killed every living creature upon the face of the earth with the exception of eight people and the animals on the ark ???What a god.

Yeah, he's a saint:

"Pope John Paul II: Zyklon B Salesman
by TONY BUSHBY

In his book 'Behold a Pale Horse,' former US Naval Intelligence Officer William Cooper relates a story associated with the IG Farben Chemical Company.

In the early 1940s, that company employed a Polish chemist and salesman who sold cyanide gas, Zyklon B and Malathion to the Nazis for extermination of groups of people in Auschwitz.

After the war the salesman joined the Catholic church and was ordained a priest.

In 1958 he became Poland's youngest bishop and after Pope John Paul I's mysterious death, the ex-cyanide gas salesman Karol Wojtyla was elected to the papacy as Pope John Paul II in October 1978.

In March 2000, he publicly apologized not for his war effort, but for the wickedness of the Christian religion. The plea for forgiveness also sought to pardon the use of 'violence in the service of truth' an often used fragile and troubling referenece to the Inquisition."

The Church has a false teaching about "Saints" The Bible is clear that any believer in the Messiah Jesus Christ and a follower of his teaching is called a "Saint"

The Catholic Church awarding people "Sainthood" is only a man made tradition and amounts to nothing. If you are a true follower of God and his Son Jesus..you are a "Saint"
02:23 PM on 06/20/2013
"God and his son Jesus" are also man made traditions.

I'm not sure that counting the escape from any criminal legal consequences for directing covering up, enabling and excusing child abuse as one of your miracles for Sainthood is entirely kosher. It's certainly miraculous that no one in your flock is holding you personally accountable either.

"The first miracle publicized by high ranking catholic clergy - a Polish daily newspaper, Rzeczpospolita, said at least one doctor assigned to evaluating Simon-Pierre's case proposed that she may have been afflicted with another nervous disease -- not Parkinson's -- that can enter sudden remission."

Well, color me surprised, I thought everyone agreed that it was a miracle.

the "collective" is part of our human nature
09:46 AM on 06/20/2013
Atheism is as much a chosen "belief" structure as is any Religious script....Objective minds allow for the possibility of some sort of universal spiritual energy that exists in both life and death....since the experience of that reality is subjective, no one can prove to another beyond doubt such a thing does not exist....and a rational mind knows if such a "thing" is real, it changes ones perspective of this life and ones death dramatically, so is worth remaining open minded to and personally investigating...... But the RCC does themselves no favors with this bureaucratic sham of "sainthood" they trot out whenever they want to prop up the memory of someone dead with deification for PR purposes.... Why don't they just build him a library like they did for Bush.... it would mean as much....

If you don't know...no one can explain it to you....you are just not at a stage in your evolution where you are ready to look at that part of the human condition....
01:16 PM on 06/20/2013
Even if there is "some sort of universal spiritual energy that exists in both life and death" I'm still going to be an atheist. And...you really did lose me with "and death" - pretty sure there's no energy to be found there.

Well the point is that a rational person does not get attached and self identify with a belief or script... a rational mind attempts to align their subjective experience with the reality of what is.....the human mind is conditioned by our evolutionary survival instinct to experience the world through the 5 senses.... the fact is human beings are capable of experiencing the world on an energetic spiritual level.. but that ability needs to be actively "learned" by an individual... its outside the box of our instinctual drives and 5 senses.

I think there's something very evil about faith, where faith means believing in something in the absence of evidence, and actually taking pride in believing in something in the absence of evidence. And the reason that's dangerous is that it justifies essentially anything. If you're taught in your holy book or by your priest that blasphemers should die or apostates should die -- anybody who once believed in the religion and no longer does needs to be killed -- that clearly is evil. And people don't have to justify it because it's their faith. They don't have to say, "Well, here's a very good reason for this." All they need to say is, "That's what my faith says." And we're all expected to back off and respect that. Whether or not we're actually faithful ourselves, we've been brought up to respect faith and to regard it as something that should not be challenged. And that can have extremely evil consequences. The consequences it's had historically -- the Crusades, the Inquisition, right up to the present time where you have suicide bombers and people flying planes into skyscrapers in New York -- all in the name of faith.
