By adding the 11 million illegals plus in-sourcing another 22 million legal immigrants over the next 10 years is not going help the American worker by flooding the job markets. Currently, we are only creating enough jobs to cover the amount of legal immigrants that come to this country per month. So, actually we are at zero job growth.

"Not all the forecast was as favorable, though. CBO said average wages would decline through 2025 as a result of the bill, and that unemployment would go up slightly."

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/06/18/house-immigration-bill_n_3463032.html

So, for the next 12 years Americans wages will continue to go down and unemployment up because of the flooding of immigrants into this country, but how long will it take Americans to regain the lost wages? Should Americans go into a financial downfall just to appease the "open borders" crowd? Our Government doesn't care, they can still line their pockets from lobbyists and all the insider trading, while the rest of us go down the tubes.

Wow really; that is like saying an increase of 3% in the [unemployment rate] would grow the economy.

This country MUST grow middle-class wages on the backs of CEO's.

It would work for big business not for every day americans, there dealing now on a new trade aggrement, bet just after the bill would pass and the new trade deal you talk about the dive to slave wages you can bet on that. Why would there be a top secret on a simple trade bill and know cant find much out because big business is running this country and big rich business men.We need to take are country back, most in Washington have sold there souls out only a small few care about America, we need to vote all whose been in office 2 terms, then we need to push term limits and public finance.

Republicans fear legitimizing these foreign workers and the jobs that they do. By allowing them to participate in the system, the black market cheap labor goes away and payroll taxes, as well as other revenue will start flowing to the government and fixing our infrastructure and Social Security program. Mitt Romney will have to pay more for lawncare, but in the end our country will be better off. Citizens having difficulty finding jobs will find them more abundant when the playing field is level for all. When a foreigner is no longer a cheaper alternative, a domestic job applicant may actually have an advantage.

Obvious answer: It makes people without Social Security cards eligible to get them and work for legitimate employers.  The people working for cash under the table (an illegal employment practice) won't have to do that anymore and such employment will quickly become abandoned, resulting in fully documented employment that will be available to anyone.  Read this for a better understanding of the potential benefits: http://www.cbo.gov/sites/default/files/cbofiles/attachments/s744.pdf

We have enough economic output in this country today; what we do not have is sufficient wage output to the working poor and middle-class. Study after study indicates that wages for frontline workers have been stagnated for 30 years when adjusted for inflation. However; in that same time frame the 1%ers have grown their incomes 275x.

We need big wage output for current citizens. We need a new formula for prosperity sharing output for current citizens. We need it yesterday.

No economy succeeds by exclusion. The more people to the party, the better the economy.

The rest I agree with, we also need a higher minimum wage but the logic is the same in both cases. Sorry you only got 1/2 of it.

There are many reasons to disagree with parrots, repeating CBO w/o reviewing their baselines, footnotes, disclosures at the end. However, I will stick to a few  below first
1) "the CBO sees the bill increasing economic growth by 3.3 percent in 2023 and by 5.4 percent in 2033"

BEFORE the GREAT RECESSION...the 50-year average for economic growth was just over 3 percent, http://www.fdic.gov/deposit/insurance/risk/2006_02/imgs/Chart4.gif THAT is what we know before a GREAT RECESSION, and CBO has no justification for 5.4% growth in their model for their financial planning forecast. If CBO had to revise back down to 3.4%, that would take away their entire model for forecast wage increases for illegal aliens, and their PHONY projection for increasing tax revenues from illegal aliens that have LEGALIZED, or taken amnesty.

2) Not likely CBO accounted for one or more recessions per decade either, as can be seen here  http://research.stlouisfed.org/fred2/series/UNRATE Each recession has THE REVERSE of economic growth, pulling down the average. Which is another reason why CBO should of stayed closer to 3.4% going forward, when they have NO OBJECTIVE reason to forecast 5.4% growth. Why in the world would the U.S. Economy be booming in 2033? What crystal ball sees a Y2K, Dot Com, Tech, Real Estate, Etc. bubble happening in 2033, that we have not already seen in the last 15 years?

3) And then there is this little gem from the CBO's sister, the GAO. In 1988, Senator Kennedy asked if wages would decline... (For a group in 2011 that would be 48.5 million in poverty https://www.census.gov/prod/2012pubs/acsbr11-01.pdf ) Page 3 of the report is one that Chuck Schumer will ignore, despite the fact that he has replaced Ted Kennedy in the capacity of amnesty-giver-in-chief.

GAO - 1988
"1. Do illegal alien workers depress wages and worsen working conditions for native and legal workers? 2. Is the presence of illegal alien workers in an industry associated with a declining business environment?"

"Many of the studies could not or did not adequately differentiate between illegal alien and legal immigrant workers. Studies that did permit (with varying degrees of accuracy) differentiation by legal status were generally limited in ways which constrain generalizability."

"With regard to the first question, our answer is a qualified “yes.”

"illegal aliens do, in some cases, exert downward pressure on wages and working conditions within low-wage, low-skilled jobs" pg 3 http://www.gao.gov/assets/80/76971.pdf

4) CBO also wrote, ""By 2033, S. 744 would increase the U.S. population by an estimated 16 million people. As a result of that growth in population, some state, local, and tribal governments would collect more tax revenues but also would face significant additional costs to provide education, health care, and other services to those immigrants."

"CBO has NOT estimated the overall effects of S. 744 on the budgets of state and local governments." pg 61 http://www.cbo.gov/sites/default/files/cbofiles/attachments/s744.pdf
5) CBO is an open borders advocate

You lost me when you pretended 3.3% growth over the next 10 years was wildly inflated. You can't seem to read the chart and see it only reflects those first 10 years. The 5.4% from 10 to 20 years is irrelevant to the numbers.
Cherry picking data and pretending they are the answer to an entire study is as old as selective data usage.

Thanks back at ya. By the way, you may want to mention this as well.

Illegal aliens get assistance from local and state governments, and then those local and state governments pursue funding for this from the Federal Government, which means the Federal Government is providing the PUBLIC ASSISTANCE from General Revenue that could of gone to SS funding or deficit reduction [ Note this from history "In 1986, in the last big immigration reform legislation signed by President Reagan, Congress bailed out local counties with a $4-billion allocation "
http://www.voxxi.com/immigration-reform-local-governments/#ixzz2TPs4JN9u ]

Imagine how much the "allocation" will be today?
04:21 PM on 06/19/2013
These numbers mean nothing to teapublicans. They live in their own world and for them all immigrants are evil and a burden to the public coffers. They will do anything to derail reforms and plunge the whole country back in recession. They thrive on it.
06:10 PM on 06/19/2013
Sorry Paulo, the psychological term for your analysis is "fundamental attribution error". I'm neither teapublican, republican or any other sort of publican, nor do I despise immigrants but I adamantly oppose this bill. I oppose it because I believe it is detrimental to our economy, to the well being of immigrants and to the rule of law. Further, I oppose it because the cultural values that made this country great are weakened by a large influx of new citizens whose cultural values and traditions have made their own countries places from which to flee rather than love and defend.
