Governor Perry did not call another special session to "finish up work on that bill." He called another special session to bully his way through the democratic process. This bill is being introduced in special sessions instead of regular session because it would not pass under the rules of regular sessions.
This is a blatant disregard for the wishes of the people, for the rights guaranteed by the Constitution to women in Texas, and to the health of all Texans. Perry has a religious fanaticism that colors his capacity to govern with integrity.

Agreed, unfortunately we have a very similar scenario in KS. It's going to take a while to dig ourselves out of the mess we are in, but the wheels are in motion.

Bring the REAL filibuster back to the US Senate !!!

Watch the lazy GOP crumble when their sabotage requires some actual work to instead of a threatening document.

The Texas DeLay-bot machine has been trying to cancel her district for years.

If they try again, I hope she runs for Senator of Texas and wins.
Cornyn and Cruz are just too much for civilized life to handle.

when grandstanding rand filibustered it was widely regarded as political posturing for any possibility of a presidential run.....

with Wendy Davis, it was personal, and she fought like a Warrior......

It has nothing to do with Wendy Davis being a Democrat.

It has to do with Wendy Davis playing all the way to the last second and not giving up.

Wendy Davis deserves respect.

We've been complaining about senators, now let's see the rest of them do the same. SHOW SOME BALLS, LADIES AND GENTS AND SHOW HOW STRONGLY YOU FEEL ABOUT IMPORTANT ISSUES!!

Ms. Davis has a very bright future. This is her 2nd filibuster, the first one took out draconian cuts to the education budget.

By 20 weeks, one should know whether to let it live or decide to chop it up shouldn't they?

While the vast majority of abortions take place before then, no, that isn't the case. Circumstances can change.

Unexpected things do happen. At a congressional hearing on May 23, 2013, on an abortion bill that would ban the procedure after 20 weeks of pregnancy, Gohmert told a female witness that she should have carried her pregnancy to term even though doctors had discovered the fetus had no brain function. Heart wrenching.

Ah yes. The new Democrat sweetheart in the State of Texas. A lock for a State wide office run. Could she be the next Ann Richards? No. :)

Absolutely -- from ancient (and modern) days of water lugging and child birth days -- women have incredible stamina. There should be many, many more women in politics.

We do represent half the human race, and politics should reflect that. Dictates and dirty tricks of the Good Ole Boys should not be the way to run government.

She's in a blue part of Texas... bet she would kill if she was in a slightly red Congressional District. Anyone out there know the facts?

She defeated a Republican incumbent (twice elected) in 2008. It's a competitive district if not, perhaps red leaning, but increasingly blue. She was targeted in the 2011 map and her targeting was what led te San Antonio federal court to throw out the map under the Voting Rights Act. Her office was firebombed last year, though not much was damaged.

My wondering is how she would fare in a Congressional race.
10:50 PM on 06/26/2013
Of course I would have signed the letter. Wendy Davis did an outstanding job with that filibuster, She stood up to the men trying to make decisions FOR women, instead of WITH them,. And she cancels out the less than brilliant Congresswoman Jody Laubenberg; who seems to think that women getting rape kits are "cleaned out, and there is no chance of pregnancy." She REALLY thinks that is the truth. Anyway, thank you Wendy Davis. You were our true voice in this. You more than did us proud.
