Greg Abbott will be the next Governor.

Real men treat women with respect. Perry and his war on women and minorities has motivated this 71-year-old woman to get busy in Battleground Texas. Plan to register every minority and woman voter I can find, make sure each registered voter get the identification they will need to thwart Republican efforts to keep us from voting and help get those new voters to the polls. Bet the younger women and men who understand how their constitutional rights are being stolen by extreme religious fanatics work even harder than I to turn Texas Blue.

I did the same thing when Wisconsin's esteemed Governor Scott Walker was up for recall. Got back involved in politics for the first time in almost forty years.....and I've had a ball. Right about the same time I started blogging on HP.....:)

In a battle of wits between Rick Perry and Wendy Davis, Perry is coming unarmed. Ms. Davis is smart, articulate and very capable of doing more good for the State of Texas. I hope she gets the chance.

Let's hope she doesn't have too much class to fight a battle of wits with an unarmed man! Governor Davis - I like the way that rolls out. If she can win and stump for Hillary in a couple of years, maybe Texas will go blue sooner than people think.
12:17 PM on 06/28/2013
When, not if,Texas turns blue the Republicans lose all chance of electing the president. if present demographic trends continue, conservatives should be in the minority within the next 4 to 12 years. If the Democrats can increase voter turnout it could happen sooner. It's going to be interesting to see how things turn out and how fast the change occurs, but it is inevitable. Keep tuned.

I saw to all Democrats in Texas...get your ID's in order, register and vote...vote...vote!

Vote your butts off...bring sanity back to state government. The American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) is in control...you need to get rid of the Republican riff raff.
02:14 PM on 06/28/2013
ALEC is definitely running the state legislation, nation wide. Get out and Vote. Check on your state legislators to see if they belong to ALEC. ALEC is unofficially an ultra conservative political action group, drafting conservative legislation and buying state legislators.

What is inevitable is the Extinction of the GOTP in the USA.
And I love that it has been self-inflicted.

Be careful what you wish for. The political party that replaces them may be far worse.

It can't be that hard.

Wendy Davis has some good support, and Gov. Perry is becoming a national joke. (The pix of him with the revolver in yesterday's HP is revealing!) It is a matter of time - the clown parade is getting to be a stale event.

The fact that demographics in many states are against the GOP adopted restrictive, backward policies is the reason they're fighting so very hard to disenfranchise so many people and make voting so difficult for the remaining few they can't rob of the right to vote. The hardest part to accept is the few women legislators who throw their lot in with this bunch.

Odd that the same man who said, "...every life must be given a chance to realize its full potential and that every life matters." has just presided over the latest and 500th execution of Death Penalized Inmates in Texas history.

And Governor Rick Perry can take credit for more than half of them!

This man wants to be the 'Decider' as Bush 43 would say over who lives and who dies in Texas! He is the epitome of Social Darwinism!

I realize I was a little offensive and a lot angry in my comment before last. I hope you'll forgive me.

Peace, John

Republicans are only pro-life for a fetus and that is ONLY because of the agenda of some of the wealthiest among us -- the investor, employer class, who are the actual owners of the GOP brand. They've abandoned all "individual liberty" in pursuit of a "dependable" large voting block -- religious zealots. Now, when Republicans say, "smaller, less intrusive government", they mean ONLY with regard to PROFIT$ -- the unregulated pursuit thereof and the untaxed hoarding thereof.
