Sandra Day O' Connor should be celebrated by Republicans as a great Republican woman.

Instead, they currently worship the likes of Palin, Bachman and the sex video making Carrie Prejean.

John O'Connor's illness triggered an immediate, historic change in the composition of the Supreme Court. Had he not taken ill the way he did, his wife may not have retired. Samuel Alito would not be on the court. However, there is some evidence that she wanted to retire soon after 2000 anyway.

Her husband may have been a deciding factor in Bush v. Gore (2000). According to wiki:

"Some legal scholars have argued that she should have recused herself from this case, citing several reports that she became upset when the media initially announced that Gore had won Florida, with her husband explaining that they would have to wait another four years before retiring to Arizona."

If this is true, she was a horrible justice. just a political hack like she was during her Arizona days. It will be on her concience forever.

Many sincere best wishes to Sandra Day O'Connor and her family.

Is there any way she could now be swapped back, and send Alito down to the minors again? She has been missed on the court and he wouldn't be.
