It's not how big your micro-bio is...

I like a flavored vodka (mandarin, grapefruit, lime, etc) in club soda. It's probably the lightest drink up there and you get a hint of fruit flavor. It's also helpful for the hangover prone as you'll be consuming plenty of water with each drink.

Why, Allan Sherman answered this decades ago with "The Drinking Man's Diet". Worth looking up and listening to. In part, "For morning I have vodka and corn flakes. But corn flakes have carbohydrates, so I eat the vodka straight."

I always keep Prosecco in the fridge. It'll get you tipsy pretty quickly but it's very low cal. I'm having some right now...

You're not living if you're not drunk ever night...

If you drink to get drunk every night, you would be preserved but not necessarily living.

I've had great success with plain old vodka and water. I haven't really changed my drinking habits and I've lost around 25 lbs in the past couple of months. The diet was key. I stopped eating a ton of crap and the weight fell off me. I still like eating bad food once in a while, but I keep the portions very small.

I stopped drinking wine to detox for a while and I gained weight. My diet hadn't changed at all. As soon as I drank wine again, the weight dropped.

The strangest thing ever.

Interesting. Perhaps sipping wine is a substitute for munching on something less healthy and more calorie-dense?

I notice when I drink wine (I drink a lot of red wine) I tend to want dark chocolate and dessert-type things. Fortunately, small portions are all I want. I'm pretty thin, and eat healthy aside from these vices. I haven't noticed weight gain or loss with changing my drinking habits.

My guess is It has to do with age and hormonal balances, but it is just strange.

Try keeping a food diary .... you'll be surprised by what substituted for the missing wine.

Pro-tip: EverClear & and an IV feed.

No need for those high calorie mixers.

Plus, you can't overeat if you're in a coma.

You are almost certainly correct. If it weren't true, they wouldn't have to write articles like this.

Be careful with tonic water. Sure, one ounce only has 10 calories, but that's the same as cola or ginger ale and the same amount of sugar, 3 g, sometimes more. 32 g sugar per 12 oz.
