Ah there will never be another president with such spine and resolve as that one.. One of the greats that served for such a short time and yet he kept us from Nuclear War and all kinds of other evils.

And what exactly were all those other kinds of evils? I remember him as president and don't recall those. You forgot to mention the disastrous Bay of Pigs in your glowing testimony.

And that is what happens when you start something after being told no. Kennedy meant no. and he stood his position.

Had they listened and aborted the mission for which they were not given clearence they would not gone there. That was not Kennedies stain.. it was the CIA and bull headed CIA Dulls and agent George H Bush.

To elaborate, chatnuptime, in 1962 we were inches close to being leveled. JFK acted on his own and made the decisions, AGAINST the recommendations of all his advisors, that averted nuclear war. Lest we forget . . .

How it happened.. I Dulles was told by Kennedy explicitly at the national address that the U.S would not interfere with Cuba. Cubans had no issues with us it was a civil when themselves. Dulls and Bush H and his CIA wanted us to get involved He did not listen to Kennedy and launched the bay Pigs even though Kennedy did not give them everything he wanted.. 3 ships, 6 fighter jets rather then 16 and when it failed 0 Reinforcments. Because he knew if we got invovled militarily it would start something with Russia. But Bush and Dulls would not back down. And did their covert operation anyway. And lost everything to it. Russia never out America was behind that. We averted a disaster because Kennedy did not send reinforcements. He let them die out there. For refusing his council. CIA and Bush H considered that a Betrayal. Yes he acted by not acting and that was the best call of the day.

We averted a nuclear war that the CIA and Bush H tried to start by pushing Castro out in a coup. That was a civil war that Kennedy was bound and determined to stay out of. And he did. But the MiC and CIA wanted a war to keep the profits comming. As they planned to finance both sides. They played those strings with Cuban nationals and lost heavely. His advisors all of which worked for the War machine wanted him to go into the frey. He refused them.

Having a zillionaire bootlegging father with social aspirations help. And laying off granny jeans with white shirts helps too. Having Jackie as an accessory is good. Pal-ing around with Lem Billings is also a help.......anyone looks stylish next to Lem.

By the way, the stylish necklace in the PT boat photo are dog tags. I guess the Gen Xer who labelled it HSS not heard of WWII - he probably thinks it is a rock band. Or a games console.

As hard as you blow, you will never extinguish the flame that burns these past fifty years.

Preferably a bootlegger that can convince the mob to steal the election for you in Illinois. Maybe skipping the part where you cross the CIA, mob and FBI precipitating a coup would be an improvement.

Was Joe, Sr., a bootlegger? I heard he cornered the market in whiskey with a stock-pile in Canada just in time for the repeal of prohibition.

Well, I guess he had a lot of irons in the fire.

A "disruptive" style element of JFK (not mentioned) was that he didn't wear a hat....After visiting the JFK Library the one I admired was his passion and collection of Scrimshaw.

JFK didn't wear Ray-Bans. His glasses were: ”American Optical” model/color marking “True color Polaroid tc74-51”, “Cabana TS 2505” and is most likely from the Titmus Cabana sunwear line, and the “Mansfield Square,” made by the now-defunct company Universal Optical.
