Um, exactly how do they justify the costs of a SWAT raid, so they can raid a farm growing organic okra and blueberry plants and hold them at gunpoint for ten hours because the neighbors complained about the grass?  Heck, they would have to do a SWAT assault at every other house in some parts of TX.
Besides, when one gets a SWAT team involved, quite frequently someone innocent, someone who has  Read More...

they have the same right to use their property and enjoy it
as the complainers who complained

OMG some people just don't have a life
and tax payers paid for this ?

those tax payers should be out raged for tax payers funds being misused in this manner !

When rats and other vermin from property like this are running across your property, are you going to sing the same song? That those neighbors have every right to "enjoy" their property as the people who are being impacted by their inability to care for it properly? I'm guessing you're a typical NIMBY -- it's all well and good in theory, just don't move it next door to you, eh?

Texas is WAY worse than I ever thought possible. It was a whole different place not long ago. Now it's a friggin' nazi rat race.

I'm guessing the authorities figured they couldn't get a warrant just based on code violations. So they invented a story about drugs which they could sell to a magistrate and get their warrant. But the cops had all this cool military surplus equipment lying around, and gosh it would be a waste not to use it, so let's mount an armed invasion against a produce farm. Then we can take pictures of ourselves looking like badasses and put it on our web site. And after that, commendations all around!

The crime, being hippies in Texas.

More evidence that our country is insanely and zealously enforcing the silly prohibition on weed. Legalize it, tax it but keep it sequestered in clubs and people's homes so the pungent aroma from cannabis doesn't disrupt people's right to fresh air.

How stupid and useless to use such fire power for a simple organic farm suspected of growing marijuana. The local police forces are taking federal money to turn themselves into another military. No warrants. Will similar force be used on marijuana fields made legal by STATE officials? It looks like some state police forces are reacting against marijuana like the feds do.

You really have to keep a close eye on those organic gardeners. Don't the police have anything better to do?

Excessive use of resources for something a sheriff and his deputy could have handled. Time for everyone to read Orwell's 1984 before the book is banned.

1948 book by a social historian, not a sci-fi writer. Is single digit transposition really too hard for Americans to figure out?

This is a another case of boys loving their toys. If you have a sniper rifle, you want to use it..a tank...a helicopter...same thing. We need to stop all of this police abuse of power. It's dangerous and there are always too many people eager to play a part in it. Support your local police,sure...support this kind of overreaction...no.

We definitely don't need more cops, .........got WAY TO MANY NOW!! Why do you think so many military people go into MP training while in the service?! They know they've got a guaranteed job once they get out!!!
03:54 PM on 08/16/2013
I've seen pictures and videos of the cops in Texas. They need to go to the gym and work on getting rid of those big guts hanging over their belts. I doubt most of them could run around the block without having a coronary.

"She said the police didn't produce a warrant until two hours after the raid began, and officers shielded their name tags so they couldn't be identified."

- Because they now what they are doing is wrong, and that they could be challenged in a court of law.

These things make me as red in the face as the states with governors who think this crap is OK!
11:20 PM on 08/15/2013
the PD began writing the warrant two hours after the raid began, after they already determined nothing was there.....maybe to avoid charges of trespassing, destruction of property, etc. Corporate control of food and Monsanto has a foot in Texas?
