I admire these women's courage but it's doubtful that their rifles and shotguns will stand up to the AK47's and machine guns of the cartels. What's going on down there is a war and nothing less. If it spreads to the U.S. we are in for big trouble and I'm afraid it's already happening in some locations.

if it spreads to the US? You are right, it is already happening in some locations. I have some good friends on the border and I hear some crazy stuff.

Brave and honorable, please use the weapons to keep the peace.

We are entering the feminine age the Mayans talked about and the old age of the Male Dominant Ego is collapsing in on itself.

There will be more women like this around the world. They are tired of the old corrupt order...

You must be Barbie and Ken beautiful. These women are way more beautiful because they are using their lives to protect their families in their own land. You are sickening.

Why allow women to walk into a disaster when we KNOW the solution to the drug problem... Legalize drugs and the problem disappears. At least as a prescriptive controlled substance and deal with the problem of a difficult life in an unfair nation and the mental health of those who are essentially self medicating.
12:01 PM on 08/21/2013
People should follow rules. What you're suggesting is that the rules should follow the people. It doesn't work that way. If that happens then the rules are useless. They do nothing to maintain order in a decent society.

Legalize it, and put the drug cartels out of business. It's really that simple.
12:10 PM on 08/21/2013
If you are saying legalize guns that wont make a difference as they are better trained and equipped than any crude militia that can be formed by a few untrained civilians.

If you mean drugs ya that makes sense except that they are slowly but surely moving towards synthetic drugs that are much more dangerous than the conventional drugs like marijuana. sure legalizing pot will diminish their income but nothing too significant they cant overcome, the appropriate action in my point of view would be to legalize pot years ago when that was still their bread and butter.

These women are brave beyond belief! I praise them and I wish them the best of luck, Guerrero is a tough area and the is a certainty that organized crime will come after them, murdering them and their families is.

Best of luck and my hat off to you.

The vigilante group has only about 80 firearms and the weapons are rotated among members, Jimenez said.

....Maybe Obama and Holder could run a few thousand AR's over the border to the group!

single shot 12 gauges aint gonna do it...
they need modern assault rifles with hi-capacity mags..
...and the resolve to use them..
this is precisely why america has a 2nd amendment ...
ps...they are probably all in violation of mexico's gun laws...and i applaud them...

"Women are brave and we are capable of defending our town," Silvia Hipolito, a mother of two who joined the self-defense group, said."

Sounds like these mothers have gotten sick and tired of being sick and tired.

How dare they defend themselves? In a proper liberal world, they would be constant victims who can only rely on the ineffectiveness of the police to protect them.

We all know people, especially women, can't be trusted with guns- they only end up shooting innocent children every single time they try to use weapons in self-defense, as the old nonsensical leftist logic goes.

Odd statement given your mini-bio.

And liberals want people to be responsible with their guns, not scream you can have a gun no matter what you do with it.

Oh yeah, and we don't like criminals having guns, either.

Not at all, You're just upset that I didn't barb the right at this particular point in time. Their logic, while highly flawed in this particular subject, is not nearly is idiotic as the left's.

"And liberals want people to be responsible with their guns, not scream you can have a gun no matter what you do with it."

False. Please read up on the most vocal political and prominent gun-control advocate, Feinstein, and her comments regarding this subject. She has specifically said in the past that she would force everyone to "turn em' in" if she could.

And in my beloved home state of Colorado, State Senator , Evie Hudak (who recently forced what you lot call "common sense" gun control on us), told a rape victim who advocated for concealed carry that she would have been raped anyway and probably would have just hurt herself if she had a gun.

Telling rape victims that they should just deal with rape because they're just too incapable to defend themselves isn't cool, by any stretch. I oppose the left's position.

Many are dead. Others have gone off to work in the city so their families can eat. Still others have gone to the US for the same reason. Those that are there are part of the community police, which the women will now join. You would've known the men started the community police if you'd read the article. So, no! No cowards!
