In America, over 90% of all mu rder/su icides are committed with guns. Fun fact.
05:47 AM on 08/26/2013
It is Florida....I am surprised he killed himself. He could have used Floridas insane "stand your ground rule" Hell ...I expect all the Blue Hairs to arm themselves and have Sunday shooting sprees under that law.... Florida and Texas....2 states that need to suceed....We don't want you all anymore....

In Japan if you try to go camping you will probably find your share of corpses, its a fad to kill yourself in forests there.

Humans have been killing long before guns, and if you don't have anyone there to stop the bad guy, a sword would be more efficient than a gun in the right hands, much more damage.

When you can make explosives with common cheap goods, its going to be impossible and irrational to think you can write enough laws to keep insane people from doing damage.

What's he building in there?

Oh but guns are just so much more effective and efficient and easy! There is nothing as simple and reliable as buying ammunition that has been perfected by centuries of development and millions and millions of successful kills!. No muss! No Fuss! No need to get close! Not messing with messy and dangerous chemicals! No fuses! No timers! No R&D in a cornfield needed! Just load the smooth, shiny brass ammunition into the magazine, slap in the magazine, and pull the trigger! What could be easier!

Please don't take away our guns! We would be scared if you do.....

HP - Your micro-bio is empty. Really?

Since you've obviously never been camping here, I think it's only right to tell you that you are absolutely wrong. There is one famous location near Mt. Fuji famous for people committing suicide, just as people choose to commit suicide off the Golden Gate Bridge. On the other hand, you do have a much better chance of being murdered in the United States, usually by being shot.

BECAUSE THE MURDERING GUNMAN WAS A BLACK MAN KILLING WHITE PEOPLE.
THEY THINK RACISM ONLY WORKS IF ITS A WHITE MAN KILLING A BLACK MAN.
HYPOCRITES
06:04 PM on 08/26/2013
You got that right. Racism is being fanned by the major media owners.
As for another black managing its dispute not with reasoning but with a gun to kill the person they disagree with or can't control it just continues to go on. It is either instilled early on in its family and community life or is inbred. The only way to reverse this in young ghetto blacks, is for them as infants to be raised by white foster mothers. There is no other out from this downward spiral. Duncan OK is a sobering example.

Is the shooter black? I assume he was since he's the granfather of a NFL's running back !

Lets face it American's are spoiled rotten and that is why you see this culture of violence. There are people living with the modest things in life and are perfectly happy. They dont go about killing each other because their lives are not going as smoothly as they would want it to.
They are people who have lost a lot. Travel and see and you will forever be thankful no matter what you have and dont have. It seems to me as though every minute someone doesnt get a cabbage to buy in the store or a good parking space, they go get a gun and start shooting. At least you have food stamps. We are sheltered too much. Spoiled rotten and we feel the whole world owes us if something goes wrong....geez!

Why probe anything? According the the anti-gunners, the gun was the one that made him do what he did. Why blame people or society when you can blame an inanimate object? *sarcasm*

America has 340million+ more people, a completely different governmental structure, different mental care systems, different health care systems, different poverty levels, different working conditions, different ethnic makeups, different educational systems, and many other differences from the UK.

So if you want to compare apples to spaceships here is a quick quote from an article about Switzerland.

"Switzerland trails behind only the U.S, Yemen and Serbia in the number
of guns per capita; between 2.3 million and 4.5 million military and
private firearms are estimated to be in circulation in a country of only
8 million people. Yet, despite the prevalence of guns, the
violent-crime rate is low: government figures show about 0.5 gun
homicides per 100,000 inhabitants in 2010. By comparison, the U.S rate
in the same year was about 5 firearm killings per 100,000 people,
according to a 2011 U.N. report."

http://world.time.com/2012/12/20/the-swiss-difference-a-gun-culture-that-works/

When one looks at that, the problem seems to be less on the inanimate objects and more on the country and society as a whole, especially when suicides are factored in.

Didn't sound like the gunman was defending himself from a 17 yr old MMA fighter who was brutally beating him. So, I doubt stand your ground would work.

Why do so many people STILL get the facts wrong? It was Zimmerman that trained in MMA, not Trayvon!

"Therefore, it might come as a surprise that Kokopelli’s Gym, where Zimmerman received MMA instruction for over a year,"

"It wasn't yet clear why Allen stopped working for Pritchett Trucking Inc."

Pretty sure this may be the reason he left the company: he had developed a serious heart disease and he was 72. Seems like that is a logical conclusion.

It seems no one on the conservative side wants to listen, but when people are financially backed into a corner, some snap if they can't see a bright line down the road. At this time, we live in a culture of "I" as opposed to "We." If I'm not happy then I must make others miserable as well. Eventually, Americans will get back to "We" but by then it could be too late. We could mean Europeans, Russians, or Chinese.
11:58 PM on 08/25/2013
It was the gun that made him do it. Some guns are good guns and they help people to defend themselves but some guns are just evil. They call out to the bad side of people. Fortunately all of my guns are good. I sure hope I never get a bad one!

What about alcolhol? Are more killed by alcolhol or guns? Do liberals drink? Have any liberals killed while under the influence of alcolhol?? The

It is amazing: the same people who advocate for guns and have no problem killing someone with one are the same people who are so against abortion under any circumstances, whether it be rape, incest, severe disablilities or the safety of the mother.

The problem with them is that they want all children born, no matter what the circumstances, but then couldn't care less about them once they are born. It doesn't matter to them if they die due to starvation, abuse or at the hands of someone with a gun.

See two can play your game.

No matter how you slice it, your side still accepts dead babies as a "right". I'd rather that people carry guns to defend themselves than advocate for the killing of innocent babies. You'll never be able to put lipstick on that pig.

This is a rural area of Florida. They hunt a lot of boar, if read the article the man used a shotgun. I agree, Florida needs to revise the stand your ground law and the country as a whole needs to rethink who gets to own one. God bless the families of all those involved.
