Once you realize that you don't possess the power of telekinesis or any kind of mind control, worrying becomes an irrelevant and useless thing to do. Since no amount of worrying will make things better, but will in fact make YOU worse, why bother?

One needs to distinguish between the the things he can change and things he cannot. Planning to affect changes is fine. Worrying about things you cannot change is useless,

99.99% of the things we worry about never happen; insurance companies know this, that's why they are making so much money.

Letting go of worry has been a part of Reiki work for hundreds of years.
Someone once said, if you can do something about a problem, there is no need to worry.
If you cannot do something about a problem, it is no use to worry.
I think that worrying has be be handled when it occurs, rather than avoided.
When it occurs, try to let go of it rather than letting it fester.

If it's something that I can't do anything about in the moment,I tell myself this, and also to let go, accept it as it is for now, and deal with it later. Especially effective when i'm trying to fall asleep.
If I'm not in a place psychologically, to meditate, I save for when I take a walk. Then I do a Zen walking meditation, focusing on the ground about six feet in front of me. Breathing out twice as long (count of four) than my in-breath (count of two). This way, I'm receiving benefits from the best of twoworlds, exercise and meditation, at the same time.

How about just taking some "me" time, and drinking a beer?

Given the news this morning ~ government shut-down; republican's blackmailing television networks; the networks deferring to the threats; racism still very much alive and well in this country ... not to mention the crimes and other disheartening news .... one might greatly benefit from the above article!

Corrie ten Boom once said, "Worry does not empty tomorrow of its sorrow. It empties today of its strength."

so true!!

Great tips :) It is important to make the decision to be worry free and to make a promise to yourself not to worry about anything.
